2000-D Jefferson Nickel
Can someone explain this to me:
84147 2000-D FS 7 15 30 85 ¥625 1,400
The price reduction (one of many for Jeffersons) was for a MS67FS... the 1,400 is for a MS68FS.
84147 2000-D 5C MSFS 1 7 71 91 116 11 297
The 11 is the Top Pop - a MS67FS. There are NONE higher... hence, NO MS68FS.
How/Why does PCGS have a price for a PCGS 2000-D MS68FS Jefferson nickel if none exist?

there is potential for database cleanup and/or process improvement here...
IMHO, there are many who think the pg is biblical when it is far from it. People make mistakes. Listing a price for a grade that doesn't exist is a lot better than what the Jefferson nickel series pg was only 5 years ago, when most grades didn't have a price or everything was listed for $10, no matter the grade. The pg has come a long way. It still has a lot of work needing to be done on a continual basis, but it's a step up for what it once was.
I think it's much more significant that many prices in the guide are not being updated or corrected. There are many coins selling for fractions of the listed pg price. For example... it's really interesting to see a coin sell for half the pg price and then the buyer lists the coin somewhere else for full pg or higher, only to realize the coin will not sell because the pg hasn't been updated and the buyer actually bought the coin at a reasonable purchase price. An example of this is... there is a 1940 MS67FS coin that has been listed on the bay for as low as $475 which has not sold, while the pg lists that coin at $850. What should be the pg be?
In regards to the coin you’re asking about, the most recent action of a 2000-D in MS67FS sold on Heritage in Feb for $431.25 HERE. My question is… why isn’t the pg listing the coin in the $500-550 range?
Hope this helps!
Steve
