1988 - 1990 Error Cards

I just came across some error cards from the late 80's in my collection and was wondering they had any value:

1988 Fleer Jerry Browne (both versions)
1988 Fleer Keith Moreland (both versions)
1988 Topps Al Leiter (both versions)
1988 Topps Keith Comstock (both versions)
1988 Topps Eddie Murray Record Breaker (both versions)
1989 Fleer Mike Heath (both versions)
1989 Fleer Tom Brookens (both versions)
1989 Fleer Dave Clark (rookie written after outfield, not sure if this is an UE)
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."

These 2 are the only ones that I have had multiples of and they are completely worthless. I ran 2 auctions for a lot of 5 each. Neither one sold for the opening bid of $0.99.
  • They aren't "worthless" but they certainly don't sell the way they used to. I'd place the value of each pair around $1-3.

If you have a Comstock with blue PADRES and yellow name on front, it is considerably scarce.

There is an auction for 1990 Topps Big #277 Fred Lynn - which features a Pirates logo - rather than the Padres. The auction states "rare" error but isn't this just a UER?

Always looking for 1993-1999 Baseball Finest Refractors and1994 Football Finest Refractors.

I believe you are correct. I bought a lot of this stuff and I only have the UER version. I really liked this stuff and would of thought that it would of caught on, never did! Recently a guy was selling boxes for $10, both years.

It's an UER. Though it was always one of my favorites.

    Uncorrectted error.

I enjoy the look and the topps big stuff in general too. Don't know why it has such a bad rep...lol

There's a lot of variations in the 1988 set. One of my all-time favorite card sets. Actually, 1989 and 1990 are pretty awesome too.

No, they're fairly common. People just don't usually note the smudge in their auctions. I saw a lot of 12 or 15 of the 88 "Schat" and there were a few of the smudged ones in there. The lot didn't get much.

  • The "smudged" Schatzeders' aren't that scarce.
I remember pulling a few of them out of factory sets back in the day.
