An early American public auction of coins – 1818

In the book by Emmanuel Joseph Attinelli on coin auctions, the earliest one that he found
was held on June 12, 1828. I am not sure if it has been published but I came across one
before 1828, as follows:
October 20, 1818. The estate of Dr. Archibald Bruce contained “A valuable collection
of antique gold, silver, and copper coins and medals” as well as an extensive scientific
library, drawings and sketches of the old masters, and other valuable items. The published
advertisement for the sale does not give a breakdown of the materials.
The sale was held in Boston but no report of the prices realized has been found. If the
report of the estate executor, Peter Jay Munro, still exists the prices may be found there
as well as, perhaps, an itemized listing.
