Superman's record falls after 3 days!!!

Looks like Superman's record price for a comic book has already been broken by Batman's first appearance in comics, today in Dallas. Sales price of 1,075,000

    Auction Link

I bet the seller of the Superman comic feels uncomfortable that he canceled the auction and took the 1 mill offer. Also, the website that brokered that deal will probably have to take down all the world record stories, and IMO looks kind of dumb to sell a more valuable comic for less than the Batman (same grade, published a year later) sold for.

Also, noteworthy is that the comic sold for less than 1 mill, the 19.5% buyers premium pushed in to 1,075,000.
  • Do you think it was the same buyer?

that would be quite the pair of books!
  • The sale is actually good for the Action Comics #1. We all know which is more historical and valuable, with the sale of Detective Comics #27, the AC1 already increases in value. I see the Action Comics #1 breaking the 2 mil barrier.

The Superman autographed edition would probably sell for a lot more.

    Holy Smokes batman!

In terms of history Action 1 did usher in the super hero age but to most people today Batman is a much bigger and IMO a better character. A blue boy scout that is an alien is much harder to get write and relate to than a rich guy who has all the money needed to be a viglante with cool toys.

Batman started a wave a more realistic heroes that is going on today.

Also the last two Batman movies were some of the best movies let alone Superhero movies in the last 10 years. Superman has been lame on screen for the last 25.
