Grades back from our Host

Well, the moment of truth came today-

Readers Digest condensed version- afew surprises, afew disappointments-

The good

GB 1894 1d MS64RB- The reverse is solid red- the obverse is not

Mexico-

1918 27MM 50 Centavos MS65
1862 Go YE 8 R MS64

Canada

1922 Cent MS63 BN- exceeded expectations

The disappointments...

I was unable to get a 1959 Canadian Dollar to grade PL67- 5 GRADED 66 and 2 graded 65. This was one of the nicest little groups I had ever seen for this date-very deep mirrors and quite attractive for the date. I thought at least one would 67

The 1961 Canadian Dollar only graded PL65-

A 1950 1d graded MS64- I liked this one as a lock 65

The others were about as expected

kat - is that the cent you showed me at NYINC that you thought was 58/61 and I said better? If I remember correctly the rev shows a better strike than the obv.

How did the rest of the coins you showed me grade?

    Congrats on the 1894.

65s or higher are a bear to get on British bronze.

Congrats on the good ones and sorry about the disappointments.
All in all sounds like a pretty good submission. Hope to see some pics when you get them back!

I believe you did see the 1922 Cent- my view on these is quite simple- when in doubt submit

    the 1904 5cents came back 58

The 1957 Dollar came back PL65 as did the 1961

The 1951 Half was graded 64

the 1884 Cent graded 63 Brown

Both 1939 Dollars graded MS64- I though one was better than the other

I submitted a no strap 53 dollar- MS64 on that . I did not submit either 1953 Dollars that I thought my be PL

The 1967 Canadian Dollar with the great color graded MS64

And I'm sorry to hear about the 1959 PL dollars. They sound really nice.
