My 1878 8TF Vam 5? Thats what the vammers on here thought, but....

the coin was not designated as such. So, Im asking again. Is this a Vam 5? And while we are at it.....why not guess the grade. Thanks for any feedback!

Well, they have poor VAM people working there.

It's VAM-5.

Im not a Vam guy, but the diagnostics are pretty straight forward for this one.

I havent received the coin yet. I just got the grades online........1878 8TF.

The only other 1878-8TF obverse with nearly identical doubling of R-I-B is found on VAM 6, which has an A1d reverse that does not even remotely resemble your A1c reverse. Call NGC and tell them they need to review your coin and correctly attribute it. It is a VAM 5. Speak to Scott Schecter, and tell him I said so. My late die state PCGS-65 example matches the die crack through the date and stars 10-13.
