Newp Cookie Monster - 1913 PR66RB MPL - Bring Your Comments!

renomedphysrenomedphys Posts: 3,962 ✭✭✭✭✭
This coin came to me by way of Allen Rowe at Northern Nevada Coin. He bought it in an OGH PR66RD holder maybe about a year ago. I remember seeing it and thinking, hey, that coin belongs in an RB holder. Well, lucky for Allen and myself, PCGS not only honored the color guarantee, but got it in the right holder, and I got it into my set. This coin has a totally pristine look, with a veritable cornucopia of originality dripping from every tiny crevice.

Yeah, lost the OGH, but speaking of which, Allen also has a PR66 1913 Barber Quarter in a tall letters OGH that is stunningly toned and cameo, as well as an OGH PR63 1913 Half that is also cameo. What's cool about the half is the holder. It's the first revision holder after the rattlers. You know, the one with a rattler encased in a hard plastic gasket. It is a PCGS 2 variety as per the Conder101 Thread. Never seen one of those. Almost talked myself into starting a 1913 proof set yesterday...image

That is one beautiful coin, brother. I remember us discussing this one on the phone a while back. I gotta tell ya, it exceeds your discription.

Don't think me rude, I think the coin is excellent; however, how can it be RED? NOTE: I am not a copper guy.

It's not. PCGS reholdered it in a PR66RB holder, and stood by their color guarantee.

    Psychedelic man! Groovy colors!
Really like it all seriousness. Glad they reholdered it for ya, it is one beautiful RB coin. (With some pretty shades of purple and green, orange) Heck make em' give the designation of RBPGO

I am usually a big fan of your MPL lincolns however this coin I am not. The cheeck and main focal area on the obverse is very detracting and not what I would consider eye appealing. Also what appears to be an attempt at some sort of spot removal on the reverse? Might just be me seeing things though. Not a fan of this one, I give it two thumbs down image
