Could this be a mishandled Proof--1913 Saxony

I keep looking at this coin and the more I look at it the more I am leaning towards it being a Mishandled Proof. Am I crazy or does anyone think the same. Scans are weak so I hope they are good enough to tell.
In hand the devices have a frost where there is not wear and the fields still look mirror like even though the coin has been cleaned and circulated awhile.
Thanks Mark

I don't know enough about that kind of coinage to give an answer, but that coin depicts my birthday, October 18th. Very cool!

    Mishandled Proof

I'm assuming your definition of a mishandled Proof is the same as mine: a proof coin that has been to some degree spent, cleaned, or otherwise damaged (damaged= what you see after a coin has been circulated, nicked, chipped, ripped, gripped, or otherwise s***t on).

I had such a proof from Iran showing the Shah and his wife. Cost me little and I saw it the other day in a non-mishandled condition at 20X my "little".

"Little" makes all the difference in the world.

    Mishandled proof = impared proof?

In any case - can't really help since I know as much about German coins as I do about functioning relationships (not a whole lot image ).

  • I would say mishandled = impared.
Still a nice looking coin in hand.

These, being commemorative coins, come normally with a very strong strike and proof-like qualities.

    Thanks that makes sense.
  • This coin is a one year issue commemorating the Centennial of the Battle of Leipzig, it's from the State of Saxony.
