Going to Israel in May.. What should I look for?

Going on a Birthrite trip for free and would like to know what some of you think I should look for out there in terms of Israeli coinage?

  • And any choice Palestine Mandate coinage! PM me if you wish. You might be able to make a couple of shekels from me during the trip! Make sure that you see Masada and Yad Vashem. And a NICE Jewish girl WOULD be nice!

If you could just find the Ark of the Covenant you'd be set.

I know you're kinda saying that in jest(but slightly serious too), but I don't think that's appropriate.

I asked about "Israel Coinage" not general things to look out for...

I like some of the mini gold commemoratives like the Jakob and Rachel pieces, also early Israeli coinage is very collectable too.

No you didn't Marc, I got the MS-63, 64 (raw) during my visit there in January image but the guy must have had 30 more from what seemed to be an original roll as the only dates were 1935, 1942. I regret not buying more of them.

lol I left those two dates for you Zohar.
There seems to be a roll here and there especially the 1935 50 Mils. Not all of em are nice though you were lucky most would grade MS62 at best image

If you are going to be there on birthright, they really take the time to show you the country and its history. Jerusalem, Nazareth, Haifa, Tiberias, Sea of Galille, Golan Heights, Masada, The Dead Sea, Tel Aviv, Old Jaffa - the works. It should be quite an experience.

The coin shops are mostly located in Tel Aviv (not all understand what quality is, and tend to clean the coins). In Jerusalem, you are likely to see more of the unique ancient materials or circulated modern coinage.
