Dear Penthouse, I never thought this would happen to me...

but one of my cards has shown up on eBay. I have a 2001 Topps Heritage #182 Kevin Tapani in PSA Gem MT 10, serial 14771162. Today I found the same card, listed as POP 1, up for auction on eBay by someone else here in the Cincinnati area. I've e-mailed the seller but have not yet gotten a response.
It's item 230389680368. Sorry, but I've never tried to post a link.

Where did they get the pic?

Give them a call and let them know, especially if you bought it from them.

LOL... that's crazy what has the world come to when people start selling other peoples Kevin Tapani cards!
I sent the seller an e-mail. It's been a while since I bought mine, but I remember the seller had a lot of difficulty, with several pictures not matching the cards described.

Check out his recent sales.... many graded cards, almost all sold for less than $4.00.
I'd call ebay directly about the auction.

One possibility is that the seller's card isn't in the PSA database correctly, so it doesn't show up in the POP report. Unfortunately, database entry errors happen way to often at PSA, though it has been much better for my last few orders. I've only had to have one or two cards added.
I had 3 or 4, 2001 Topps Heritage PSA 10 cards. When I list cards that are the same series, I use the 'sell similiar' feature. Apparently I listed the Tapani card first.
I am guessing that I clicked on the sell similiar link and when it came up for some reason I did not change the title, but I changed the picture to "Bobby Jones" So now I have 2 titles for Tapani, one is correct and the other has a Bobby Jones picture.
After I list my cards I usually go to my store and look at all of my new listings. When I checked to see if the cards were listed I would have seen one Tapani picture and one Bobby Jones picture along with the other cards I had listed.
When the OP(buyer) hit the "Buy It Now" button he clicked on the auction that had the Tapani title wih the Bobby Jones picture. He bought a total of 3 BIN's for a total of 6 cards.
When a buyer pays me I print off the packing slip (Which does not have pictures or I would have caught it then) and pull the cards. I saw the ebay title for a Tapani PSA 10 and pulled it along with the other cards.
The buyer gets the cards and he received everything that he bought, but I still have a problem that I did not know about until today when at 0941 he sends me a question through ebay. I responded back to him at 1021 (less than 45 minutes later by the way)
Because of my listing error, I have what looks like a Tapani card for sale in my ebay store when in reality it is a Bobby Jones. Because the Tapani card has a population of 1, I knew that the only way he could have it was if he bought it from me. I checked his feedback (I leave everybody feedback as soon as I am paid) and sure enough on January 11 I left him positive feedback.
Tapani with Bobby Jones Picture
I have apologized to the buyer through the ebay resonse for any trouble and canceled my listing, tonight I will list the Bobby Jones card
Other than I screwed up by forgetting to change the title I don't know what else to say. I have 100% positive feedback and 5.0 and 4.9 DSR's. After 11 years of selling on ebay this is the first time that I have made this mistake.
The OP did say that the seller was having problems with titles and pictures not matching, if I would have known that then this would have been fixed and I would still be at work where I belong
any questions let me know.

I am curious why selling graded cards for less than $4.00 would be a reason to contact ebay?

Sorry, I wasn't trying to make that connections. I meant the situation was confusing, as it doesn't make a lot of sense to fake a $19.99 Best Offer Card. My further analysis was that past sales indicated he wasn't a habitual faker of $20+ cards as well (I serious doubt someone would make fake PSA 7 cards that sell for $1). And my final thought about contacting ebay was a separate thought to get the auction taken down before someone used BIN (to save both the seller and the buyer a headache), since I assume the OP could provide proof he owned the card in the auction. I apologize for not writing a clearer response!

<< <i>Bunker got back to me very quickly about this. I've had nothing but successful transactions with him and hope to continue in the future. I should simply have sent him the e-mail, as I did, and not bothered posting here until I heard back. Bunker, I apologize. >>
No need to apologize and I am hopeful that we can work something out on the 52 Rookies.

<< <i>Unfortunately, neither my son nor grandson is interested in cards. Eventually my collection will finance my stay at "Casa Old Fogies". >>
I work for a decently large long term care provider. Just give me all your cards and I promise to watch out for them while you're a resident.
