What do you charge for shipping & handling?
I am willing to bet there are others who charge more who are still sporting their badge... and those who use free shipping who are without theirs.
Free shipping isn't a silver bullet for 5 stars on shipping.
There are no silver bullets, especially with the gap between how eBay describes star ratings to buyers and how they score their discounts.
Snorto~
Tho a bonus, I don't care about the free shipping.

Or a buyer/seller who's jealous that he's not getting the discount.
I suspect that's the reason more often than not.

And E-bay can put their Top Seller badge where the Sun don't shine. When they rolled out there latest program the "Top Seller BS", the gave it to me and then a couple of weeks later I had a F$##CK-Up with Paypal. Long story short I had always shipped off the PayPal "You've got money" E-mails. I had a really good month and sold about 175-250 Auctions/Store items. Well what I didn't know was that I couldn't depend on Paypals E-Mails, for some reason I started missing about 1 in 20 (Admitted glitch in Paypal system by them, but no solution). So anyway two weeks later I start getting the "Where is my Item" E-mails and find out I haven't shipped about 10-12 items I have been paid for. So I do the leg work, figure out the items, contact the different Buyers, Explain, Refund their money, send the Items, Shipping Free, and Give the items away Free (Gave away $200 worth of Sales), and still 5 clowns give me 1's/2's on shipping DSR's. So 2 weeks later they take away the "Top Rated Seller" and tell me it will be a year before I can earn it back.

That happened to me with an APO address. I was a week late after realizing that APO addresses don't feed into paypal's multishipping program. Would be nice if they told you an item didn't load for whatever reason (international payments also won't load); I've learned to check the seller reminders on my ebay page.

From last July:
Starting in April, there will be a new structure for PowerSeller Final Value Fee discounts, with the biggest rewards going to the best sellers: The maximum 20% for eBay Top-rated sellers and 5% for all other PowerSellers.
Until April, the current PowerSeller discount structure based on average 30-day DSRs will continue: 20% for 4.9; 15% for 4.8; and 5% for 4.6. This will give PowerSellers who continue to meet the 30-day DSR requirements plenty of time—eight full months—to keep those discounts while they evaluate and adjust their business practices to meet the new low DSR requirements.
Starting in October, Top-rated sellers will get the new Top-rated seller badge displayed prominently on their item, other member profile pages and search result pages. The current PowerSeller icon will no longer be displayed on buyer-facing pages like the item page and other member profile pages. The PowerSeller icon will still be displayed in My eBay, Selling Manager and Selling Manager Pro.

It could happen.
I put the odds at close to 50/50.
But, folks who think AMZN is a laissez faire venue would
be unpleasantly surprised. They are more strict than EBAY,
and if you make a "mistake" it is almost impossible to talk
them into any leniency.
AMZN routinely makes wrong SNAD-decisions, but not as
frequently as does PayPal/EBAY.
The main advantage of AMZN is that the quality of buyers
is 100s of times higher than it is on EBAY. I have been on
EBAY for 12-years+ and have never seen more SCUM
disguised as "buyers" than are currently on the site.

No surprise there being sellers cannot leave negatives. sad
<< <i>When I searched it was the first item listed, and if you click on the auctions only tab it's the only card that comes up. $10 isn't the true market value of the card. You can't force quality buyers to see and bid on the card in the brief 7 days you have it up for auction. By listing the card at $4.99 you're forcing the card to be sold at any price. The guy who wins it at $10 might have had a $30 bid in and would have bought it from you for $30 if you had it listed in your store. >>

Absolutely correct.
Sellers should simply stop listening to the small group
of bargain-hunting buyers who claim they "only want
auctions" and "never look at BINs."
List BINs and you will, eventually, get your price.

EBAY is the largest Online Outlet Mall and they will be around a VERY long time.
EBAY is happy to collect money from collectible transactions, but they really
don't care if collectible buyers/sellers use the site. They have MUCH bigger
fish to fry.

If you rub some cream on it I bet it will feel better in the morning.
The two latest complaints:
** Not getting enough feedback (then wanting to send to buyers to remind them)
** Losing "Top Seller" badge (claiming listings are at the bottom when the example provided was the first listed)
If some people are so sick of eBay, then do something else. I don't like the percentage that is taken from my sales, but I understand that is the cost of doing business if I use that platform. I don't find someone else to point a finger at or another business model to gripe about. If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen!!! Oh, and if you're getting smacked on your DSR for charging $4 to ship a single graded card 1st Class Mail, then consider if the extra $2 profit is worth losing your precious "Top Seller" badge.

How do you figure a graded card only cost $2 to ship???? It costs $2 JUST FOR signature confirmation, which PayPal FORCES you to apply on cards worth more than $250. Also it is roughly $1.50-$3.00 for just low/middle tier insurance......if you don't believe me go look at the USPS website!!! Granted, I might make a little bit if it is a low dollar card that I don't happen to insure. But on the high dollar cards, the cost is STILL only $4.00, which I pay more than that to ship........so....your argument doesn't hold water....
$0.01 to $50 $1.75
$50.01 to $100 $2.25
$100.01 to $200 $2.75
$200.01 to $300 $4.70
$300.01 to $400 $5.70
$400.01 to $500 $6.70
Sorry, but I don't sell new junk in PWE........I sell graded cards and sometimes the extra services pushes the price well above the $4 I charge to ship Scott.......
That is JUST for insurance.....SIG CONF is $1.95 (MUST apply on cards over $250).....and then you have the cost of mailing.....cost of the bubble mailer, the bubble wrap around the card, and then the actual postage. As I said...no PWEs here......if you have any suggestions on how to trim those costs down, I am all ears.......unfortunately, I work a full time job as well, so trekking on down to UPS or FedEx is not feasible, if people want me to ship out everyday.....

A couple of simple solutions:
1. Fixed price auctions with FREE SHIPPING (include your shipping expenses in the fixed price).
2. On auction items that you expect to exceed $250.00, use Priority Mail with Signature Confirmation and charge $6.75. You can process this through PayPal and meet all of the guidelines to protect you without losing a penny. USPS shipping supplies are FREE and can be ordered online at USPS.com.
3. On auction items that you expect to be less than $250, charging $3.00 for 1st Class Mail with Delivery Confirmation will still put $1.00 profit in your pocket and will do wonders for your DSR. Also, don't print the postage on the label.
4. Insurance IS and WILL CONTINUE TO BE your responsibility. If you want to use it, YOU have to pay for it. I don't and I won't. In 11+ years, I have never had a package that I've shipped get lost or damaged. I'm guessing that if you look over your records, you, too, will find that paying for USPS insurance is a losing proposition. Why would you run a business with a segment that offers little protection with regard to the cost of operating it? CUT IT LOOSE! If something ever does get lost or damaged, make good on it and realize that you a probably ahead versus what you would've paid out over the years for USPS Insurance that WILL NOT PAY on most claims for sports cards.
<< <i>How do you find out which buyer has given you certain dsr scores? >>
It is IMPOSSIBLE to tell which buyer burned your DSR! In Ebay's prefect little world, everyone offers FREE SHIPPING. That way, they can get their hands on a bigger percentage (since shipping and handling is excluded in Feebay's final value fee)....Wait until they give you their "approved packaging" list, and sellers who don't uses Ebay approved boxes get dropped way down the list....

Scott, not sure if this is directed to me or not, but my other thread is only to get a feel of how others work eBay feedback. Losing the eBay powerseller and top seller badge was due to not meeting enough sales/transactions...my post here was just pointing out something eBay did which gave me a little laugh, that's all. Overall I actually like eBay and the only problem I have with them is I feel that there is little protection for sellers.

<< <i>I like Ebay as well...but the Draconian rules are only going to get worse....as when Ebay ceases to be fun (as I am sensing is happening), buyers will quit going to the site, which in turn means less money for sellers, which will make them leave. It is kind of a catch-22. >>
Yogi Berra once said of a local restaurant, "No one goes there anymore because it's too busy..."

It's very easy to find out who burned you on your DSR. In the seller dashboard you can run reports. Get the item numbers from the last 20-30 people who gave you feedback. Do a report by item numbers and it will show you the number of ratings in each range 1-2, 3-4, 5 if ten people rated you on DSR. You can then obviously play around with your list and see exactly who gave you the bad ratings. To make is easier in the future keep a clean list of 10 items numbers that gave you all 5's across the board. If you notice a hit to your DSR add a few of your most recent feedback item numbers to see if the hit came from those items. Add or remove item numbers until you identify the unhappy customer.
Please remember that it's against Ebay rules to contact unhappy customers about the low DSR ratings they gave you. Consider why they might have left you bad ratings. If you did anything to deserve the bad rating then try to improve in that area. If you shipped for free and the order was delivered 2 days from purchase, but then get burned with low ratings hidden under a lovely feedback, then consider blocking the jerk.
