How is a pack worth negative dollars?

Here is an auction that just ended with a 1987 Donruss rackpack WITH BARRY BONDS RC ON TOP.

It ended for $6.56 and is encased in a GAI 8.5 holder.

Sending a rackpack into GAI probably costs at least $25, I am no math major, but that's no so good!

1987 Donruss rackpack Bonds RC on top GAI 8.5 sold for $6.50

That card was more relevant several years ago when it was slabbed.
  • Certainly true Allen, amazing how steroids took Bonds and Clemens value down 70%.
  • Amazing how steroids made their value rise to start with. What goes around, comes around.

Tho I'm guessing your query was rhetorical Mugsy - it still can evoke a little emotion even today.

Anything I say is gonna sound trite - so I'll just leave it at OVER-production and STEROIDS.

I havent been following modern cards very much but was wondering how has the steroids affected A-ROD's rookie?
  • It is a buyers market right now. Not as many auctions starting at $.99 on better cards. That $300 card a year ago is now selling for $150.

At least with the items I keep track of.

Oh yea, 87 Topps was plenty.

  • I like the "There's Hope" in the Title.

If the all time HR leader can drop like that what does that say about the investment potential of someone like Pujols?image

Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's

  • I love 87 Donruss, but I wouldn't pay $6.56 for a GAI 8.5 graded rack pack regardless of who's on it.
