Was this set produced (more limited) much like the 1975 mini set, or were the 1985's cut from sheets after release by Topps?

The set was never released. The cards were cut from sheets after wandering away from the Topps factory.

So an "evidence of trim" reply from PSA tells me that the experts on this set were on vacation when cards were submitted?

That's a safe bet. I would bet that an email to the powers that be would turn the EOT into a voucher.

But since got out with regular backs and some with all red backs and some with no backs at all, there must have been a booby trap at the door.

I am almost sure these were produced at the OPC factory in London, Ontario ?
