More scans from yesterday, 53 Topps, 61&62 Topps UPDATE GRADES BELOW SCANS

The nicest cards appear to be the '61 Mays MVP, '61 Colavito, & '61 Mathews. The '67s are mine. The '67 Perry looks very similar to my PSA 8.5 Killebrew but I'm afraid the print smear under the T in Giants might drop me to an 8. The others are from the gentleman I'm helping with his collection. Enjoy... I know the '62 Gibson & McCovey are nice but are a tad short from top to bottom. They also appear to have much nicer gloss than the other '62s. He also had a few more(maybe 5-10) that were commons but just as nice(incredible gloss) but looked a tad short as well. Any ideas from you '62 experts such as Bosox1976? They were brutal on the '61s... I think someone from the large group sub posted the same sentiments yesterday. Also, as I suspected, the '62s weren't trimmed, just cut small, except for the McCoveyimage

  • WoW! What a great set of cards! I'm really focused on the '62Ts and what I'd give for examples like these!

I know Mike (Bosox1976) can tell you more. That Koufax is notorious for bad centering, so this one is better than most and is centered about like one I recently bought. If the Gibson and McCovey have noticeably more gloss, I remember reading about some special limited-edition sets that were made. Some of the highest graded cards are from those sets from what I've read (probably on the PSA Set Registry forum).

    Thanks for sharing!
  • Beautiful cards Neal. I'm a bit suspicious of the '62s being trimmed I'm affraid. McCovey on the bottom, Gibson bottom looks to have a bow in it, and maybe the top of Manger's Dream. It may be the way the scans came out but it's just my thoughts. '53s have amazing color. Quality stuff. Doug

    Great pickups!

    Especially nice 53T group.

  • Mike, I sure wish they were pickups of mine. I'm just sending them in for a friend.

I believe I read somewhere that the Presentation Sets may have been a tad smaller than the standard issue.

Nice cards indeed Neal. I think the 62's are all 7 if they are whole, except (unfortunately) for the Mick (6)and the Koufax (5.5) or (6). They've been rough lately. That last Perry is a beauty.

He got ROBBED on the 1962 Gibson....the grader probably felt guilty giving it an '8', so he copped out to give it the MSR

They also graded the '53 Topps Mantle in the other sub I had MUCH harder than the Robinson, Paige, etc. in this sub. I agree on the '62 Gibson... I would resub it but my friend probably won't. Maybe he'll eventually sell it to me and I'll get it into the holder it deserves one of these daysimage
