Any Baseball Card Shops Near Dallas Ft Worth International Airport?

I'll be on a business trip in Arlington, Tx in March... Is there are shops within driving distance?

Thanks for your reply in advance!

I would also appreciate it if other would share their favorite DFW shops. I only know of Nicks in Richardson and Al's in Plano right now - no idea if JW on Montfort is still open any more.

  • I live in Garland, work in Dallas. JW's is closed. Nick's is the best in Dallas proper if you are going to buy packs, boxes, or high end singles. He has some loose commons, but they aren't really sorted. If you are looking for loose commons from the 50s until now to fill in your Topps, Heritage, Bowman, Upper Deck, etc sets (all sports) is Dollars and Cents Sportscards and Coins located at 500 North Galloway Avenue, Mesquite, TX 75149-4339, (972) 289-7970. They have a Beckett storefront here:
    Dollars & Cents

If you're headed to Arlington, my best bet and my favorite card shop of all time is: Duane's Sports Cards, 2817 Galleria Dr, Arlington, TX 76011.

    Cheap, Cheap, Cheap.....

They have supplies, tons of it, tons of boxes and packs. And if you buy in multiple he'll usually cut you a break. For instance the last time I was in there I bought 4 boxes of 2010 Topps, they were $70 a piece but he sold them to me for $60 since I bought multiple. His shop is set up kind of like a mini card show as there are 5-6 other guys there in the shop selling there stuff. If you need high end rookies there is a guy for that, there is a guy that builds sets and has commons/stars from the 60s to now in the Topps, UD, Heritage, Bowman, etc. to complete your sets. If you can get to Duane's I would. Located on the web here:
Duane's Sportcards. He also has an ebay store.

The reason I don't get out there much is its about 35 miles from my house. I usually try to hit it up on my way to Ranger games on the weekends during baseball season. From the airport you'd head south on 360 and exit Lamar/Six Flags Drive. Hope that helps.

    Go to the website www.sportscard-stores.com.

If you pick a state it will give you a list of all the sportscard stores in that state by city/town. The only problem is it is a few years old and some/most of the sotres might be out of business.

I visit Duane's every Christmas when I visit my folks. He has tons of hard to find supplies so thats a plus.

His unopened prices aren't very good IMO, unless you can find a hot set he hasn't adjusted the prices on yet. Otherwise you can find better prices for unopened online or at local shows. He also makes no distinction between his hobby and retail boxes (most are marked I know). My dad almost bought a few retail boxes due to the price difference before I stopped him, he doesn't buy much wax and didn't know the difference.

He does have an amazing array of singles for sale. If your patient you can go through all his binders and find some good deals on RCs and autos. It appears he prices them the year they were released on newer stuff and never really goes back and adjusts. So if a guy was a low draft pick or came on late his RCs are usually underpriced in his store.

His vintage was overpriced IMO for the grade but he has alot of it and if your patient I am sure you might find some low pops sitting in his binders or boxes. I normally don't have enough time to spend there sorting through commons boxes or binders but one day maybe I will.
