Horse Racing betting tickets getting slabbed
Does psa grade uncashed tickets from horse races? I saved a few from the derby and oaks that i went to.. i never thought that psa would slab this.. but while doing a pop search for the jockey Willy shoe maker.. i saw a 2$ win ticket was in the population report... it noted "final race 4th place" i thought that was pretty cool.. i'm just wondering what their policy is with these. Would they slab a losing trifecta ticket from the kentuckey derby or only 2 dollar win tickets and does the race have to be of some significance? i'm pretty excited about something new to get slabbed

I still have a minty shoemaker last ride $2 win bet ticket.
I like the idea of the tickets as a slabbed collectible.
I suspect that most of the kept tickets were driven by
the event or the horse and not the jockey. That likely
means that lots of the most "interesting" tickets are
very scarce or gone forever.
Longden, Shoemaker, Arcaro, Pincay tickets could be fun.
(I saw all of them ride many times, and one of my uncles
had a major palship with both Longden and Shoemaker.)

Some of these tote tickets especially from big event races won by popular horses, sell for some decent coin on ebay. Slabbing, especially for authentication purposes, would be a good idea.

I'd be surprised if these are ever worth anything. No doubt the truly valuable slabbed tickets, as the raw ones are now, would be from winning horses as most of these of course get cashed.
Some may think that the tracks would love to see all those winning tickets slabbed after a big race - they would make more money keeping the money and not having to pay it out...when actually all uncashed winning tickets money after a year gets sent to the state.
An interesting note to anyone who wants to save the original ticket these days - you can make a copy of the ticket, cut it to size, and run it through the self-dispensing tote machine yourself and it will payout a voucher - of course once you do that, then the original ticket will not payout if you run that in the tote machine.
<< <i>i think this is pretty cool. anyone going to the Rachel alexandra/Zenyatta race? i'd like a $2 win ticket for each and an exacta.. >>
That will be a great race, if it happens. Both incredible horses.
