The fun never ends on E-Bay......................Not bashing Canadians.....................But sold this card today: 1988 Fleer Update J Smoltz RC Card #U47 PSA GEM MINT 10 and recieved this message with the payment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What do we need, a Grading service for the Holder!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Copied exactly as sent with Payment!!!!!!

"Hello, Please send this item at your earliest convenience with a clean, crack and scratch-free PSA holder, where the PSA label is printed well, with grade information evenly centered left to right using the newer style of PSA label where the 10 is printed BELOW the "GEM MT" notation, as shown in this auction. Also, please ensure that the item is securely packaged to prevent any damage and clearly marked as a "GIFT" with a low dollar value to avoid unjust customs fees. Many Thanks!"

Yea, that part actually makes sense, I think over a certain dollar amount ($5 or so), the receiver has to pay a VAT (value added tax) on that amount, but I don't know many sellers that actually have a PSA holder buffer to shine them up prior to dropping them in the mail...Crazy A$$ Canadians!!

I'd cut the buyer some slack. Obviosly, the person knows nothing about cards, so I'm assuming they are buying it as a gift for someone they love (for Vday perhaps). It sounds like they actually think that you make your own PSA holders and labels....That made me crack up.. You should offer to type the flip in Navy Blue and Grey font to match Smoltzy's Braves uni...

What is the process to cancel this and assure that this clown cannot Neg me. The message was in the Payment notice to me from Paypal, does E-Bay have access to see that. What exactly should I do, contact E-bay by phone, put them on notice, wait for a Neg?? Cancel now, tell him I am cancelling because I don't lie on Customs forms? Do the cancel transaction, wait 7 days?

Call the EBAY CS-monkey.

Tell them you want to cancel the transaction because the buyer
has asked you violate customs regs AND you are afraid he will
leave an unwarranted NEG if you refuse his request.

Keep going up the chain until you get a supervisor, if necessary.

That's quite a hefty list of demands to make of you over a $20 card.

Did your auction include a picture? If so, couldn't he see for himself what the flip looks like?


Edited to add: I just figured out that when he says "as shown in this auction", he is referring to the same auction he won.
You'll have to excuse me, I'm a little slow (the town is THAT way!!!!).

Have you contacted the buyer to discuss other alternatives? Maybe just refund the paypal payment and ask them to send another one without the ridiculous demands about the PSA holder. I wouldn't cancel the transaction until I'd tried to contact the buyer first.

No thanks....I have learned through trial and error, if it starts to smell funny in any way on a deal...Run...Don't walk...Run away!!! That would give him ammo to turn the $20 deal south, the only thing I have now is his statement in his Paypal Payment to protect me.

I've canceled transactions (mutually even) when I refused to report any thing other than the truth on a customs form. I don't want to get in the business of falsifying official gov't documents, mail fraud, or whatever the punishment is for deliberately making false statements with the USPS.
