I guess Gretzky is lighting the tourch.

My command gave us a 4 day weekend. So out of habit I got up at my normal 5:30 made breakfast and just watched some news and drank coffee. Just finished my 3rd cup, about to go refill for #4.

In all honesty I looked at my post count and just made the decision to get to 900 by the end of the day. That and I wanted to see if I could see my name 10 times in a row on the reply column.
  • nope, no interest, but maybe ill peruse the curling highlights.

If there is women's snow wrestling, then I'll watch.

I love the winter olympics. Where else do they consider curling a sport. It is basicaly shuffleboard on ice. If you look at the "athletes" they all are smoking cigarettes during their event and are eating hamburgers.

While we are on the subject, whoever thought of the biatholon and thought combining cross country skiing and shooting would go together. It is almost as good as chocolate and peanut butter, but not quite.

I'm a big fan of the biathalon since I have a great love for both skiing and shooting.

I will watch the Hockey for sure. With the pros, it takes some mystique out of the results, but is one event that the Redwings cant buy their way to success.

    Curling is actually fairly intersting.

I will NOT be watching figure skating as I think it is a complete waste of Olympic space. I would rather see Bear (or Bare for the ladies) Wrestling or Snowman making contest.

  • I'm sure I'll be watching... My son was born on Opening day of the 2008 Summer Olympics due to a life threatening situation for my wife. We spent a week in the Hospital and watched a lot of the olympics... now my wife is on bed rest and my daughter is due 1 week following closing ceremonies. I'm sure the olympics will forever carry strong emotions for me now...

I'll be watching what I can. Luge, bobsled, and ski jumping all better to watch than anything in summer games.

  • I'll be focused on hockey but will likely catch some of the snowboarding and curling as well. The hockey SHOULD be epic this year!

You guys that hate hockey or maybe ambivalent about it might want to catch some of the top teams in action - Canada, Russia, Sweden, maybe even the US. Yeah, there won't be much if any fighting, but the play will be much faster and more intense than your average NHL game.

Not a problem, I am not ambivelant abut it....If it involves being COLD and in the Middle of some sort of WHITE CARP, as the chick from the old TV show used to say "KISS MY GRITS"

75% of the opening was boring.. Too bad the end got screwed up with the failing of hydraulics..

I can't wait for the hockey and I do enjoy watching this and that in-between. In my mind I could care less about speed skating etc but when you catch it and watch it for just a little bit you get sucked in.

As for hockey, I hope Canada wins but my prediction is that Russia will win Gold. Canada Silver... Swedes Bronze.. Should have picked Ryan Smyth or Shane Doan for the team Yzerman.

    Any other hockey predictions?

My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)
