Grading opinion Please - apologies for the large image

Forgot I had this until tonight, and was wondering about slabbing it and flipping - I'm not sure how to grade creases, so any votes would be appreciated.

PSA 2 due to the crease across Mickey's face.

FWIW, I was torn between saying 2 or 3, but again I don't know how to read the subtleties of the PSA grade descriptions when I get down that low in grade.

I'm going to guess 1 due to the severity of that crease. Plus, I think they're tougher on Mickey then on commons.

Unfortunately I don't think there is any chance for a 3. I've seen a lot worse in a "1", but better in a "2". I'll throw it in the 'ole "1.5" slab. (Nice that it's a WHITE LETTER variation.)

Crease is heavy and distracts from the eye appeal ... Imo still awesome Mantle white letters!

Yeah, the crease is in a tough place for sure. Think the poor soul knew how much they cost themselves when they bent this?

But how does it compare visually to this one? I personally think it still shows much better, as this auction one has a lot of surface wear and much rougher edges. Of course, we always think our own kids are better-looking than others, right?

  • Bob,

I'd go and sub the card even if it gets a 1. The centering does help the eye appeal, and seeing it's the Mick and white letters someone will want it if you are thinking of selling. The card has a shot at a 2 IMO.

I would consider that a "heavy" crease - so no better than a 1.5 would be my guess.
