Ok, yes this is basically a joke thread. My gosh, is this the worst Pac 10 season EVER!? I started following college hoops in the mid 70's, when it was still the Pac-8, and I just don't remember such a dreadful year. I am a UCLA fan and they are HORRIBLE but nobody is running away with the conference. Could be just ONE Pac-10 team in the tourney!? ONE! I think we had 7 a couple years ago. Amazing!

Adding Gonzaga to the Pac 10 might improve the conference - if only in basketball.
of Hoops.
Also, I really think the Pac 10 needs to consider expanding (then add a conf football championship) and I think Utah and BYU make the most sense. They would be competitive, from day 1, in all the major sports.
In the same way that Arizona and Arizona State made sense when the Pac 8 expanded to the Pac 10 about 30 years ago.
The teams in the Pac 8 and now Pac 10 are teams which consist of the premier, major universities in states located in the Pacific time zone.
No other schools in the Western US would "fit" in with the Pac 10 better than Utah and BYU. These two schools are the premier universities in Utah and have a long standing tradition of academic and athletic excellence across a wide range of majors and sports.
Schools in other Western states fall short, including those schools in Alaska, Hawaii, Nevada, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado and New Mexico. Of the schools in these states the University Of Colorado would be the closest "fit" with the Pac 10 after Utah and BYU. However, Colorado is in the Big 12 [and probably would not move out of that conference] and one does not equate Boulder, Colorado with the Pacific coast.
Gonzaga, Idaho, Idaho State, Boise State [though you must give props to its football program], Montana, Montana State, University Of Wyoming, Colorado State University, University of New Mexico, New Mexico State University, Hawaii University, UNLV, University Of Nevada Reno and the colleges in Alaska just do not seem to belong in the same category as USC, Cal, UCLA, Stanford, Oregon, Oregon State, Washington, Washington State, Arizona and ASU.

I'm not trying to refute your well-made greater point, but Arizona and Utah are actually in the Mountain Time Zone. The only western states in the Pacific Time Zone are Washington, most of Oregon, California, Nevada and a small portion of Northern Idado.
Arizona is in the Pacific Time Zone half the year, right!?
We will have to change Utah's clocks to pacific. Not many people there anyway!
