WTF is up with "vials of gold flake" auctions on eBay?

"Lowest price on eBay"?

"Wholesale"?

Doesn't wholesale imply that there is at some point a "retail"? What rocket scientist is buying this garbage?

Idk, but it's very annoying. I have to wade through a couple pages of that crap looking for stuff.
Positive dealing with oilstates2003, rkfish, Scrapman1077, Weather11am, Guitarwes, Twosides2acoin, Hendrixkat, Sevensteps, CarlWohlforth, DLBack, zug, wildjag, tetradrachm, tydye, NotSure, AgBlox, Seemyauction, Stopmotion, Zubie, Fivecents, Musky1011, Bstat1020, Gsa1fan several times, and Mkman123 LOTS of times
  • I have actually bought these vials twice for my wife to use in her crafts and painting. Very cheap and a nice effect for arts and crafts. Can't see why anyone would buy it for any other reason though.

If you add -vials or -flake to your search it goes away. I usually use engelhard gold as a search phrase and those auctions always clutter it up.

  • I have filtered out several sellers for this very reason.

The search may not be exclusive, but "gold flake" just under the "Coins & Paper Money" category results in 615 auctions. 615! You'll find fewer auctions if you search for "100 oz" in that category.

And it's always the same people selling the maple leaf 1 gram "silver" bars or buffalo 1 gram copper bars. I don't think those bars are legit. I think the maples are a JM knock-off. Wouldn't be surprised to find out they're off-metal, off-weight, or fake altogether.

They don't bother me too much unless they state something like "A collectors dream!" when trying to sell the stuff.
