My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

Soon, like they do with racehorses, they'll be paying athletic couples to get together to "create" a star athlete - if they have twins there would be a bonus involved.

    Deja Vu,................ all over againimage

Does the name Todd Marinovich rign a bell with anyone?

Marinovich was a boy who was groomed, by his dad, to be a Quarterback from the date of his birth. He grew up in The O.C. and was getting press coverage about how great he was before he entered high school. In high school his fame increased dramatically. His "skill set" was so great that his nickname was "RoboQB".

Upon graduating from high school he enrolled in USC. He played two years. He did not care about academics and after his sophmore year left school for the NFL.

Al Davis of the Raiders drafted him and he played a few years in the NFL.

Turns out that he was a bust. He grew to care more about drugs than the game. His relationship with his father (who was the driving force behind his son becoming RoboQB) ended up in the dumper. His nickname turned to Todd Marajuanovich, since he liked MaryJane and spent time getting high.

He washed out of football. Occassionally news reports about him pop up, mostly concerning his most current arrest in Newport Beach for drug offenses. He supposedly spend a whole lot of time at the beach, being a beach bum and doper.

I wonder how proud his father is of his son now?

Hopefully this 13 year old kid does not have the same type of father and that the kid will not turn into RoboQB II, even if he has a great skill set.
  • a lot of these prodigies end up in crack dens.

It is newsworthy for fun. The commitment means NOTHING from either side. If the kid breaks his leg in high school, you can bet USC will renege. Similarly if USC has a great sophomore or junior QB when he hits campus, you can bet all the other heavies will get a shot at him.
