Goal achieved - added to a blocked bidder list.

I won an item as saw shipping for first class US mail was $10.00. On conclusion of the auction I requested a total and asked if they could do any better than $10 for shipping as fully insured in a bubble mailer would be less than $6.

Seller honored the request and I thought cool guy. Marked a bunch of his auctions to bid on tonight as I had a deal fall through. Seller lost out on at least $200 more in bids.

Guess I saved cash and I should thank him. Lesson learned never question shipping.

I have no problem with paying it as I bid on the auction. He didn't have to honor the request; guess he feard the star ding. I've paid far more ludicris amounts for shipping and knew full well before I bid. I didn't think it hurt to ask, but I guess it hurt his wallet a bit too. Kinda bums me out as I would have won one for sure (least I think so). Guess there's an omen out there I'm not catching to have several buys fall through in one day.

100% agree. I do think $10 shipping is excessive, but you've already agreed to his terms by winning the auction - bad time to try to renegotiate.
  • Guess my asking if he could so any better on shipping can be taken different ways. Didn't think I was negotiating, just asking. Two sides I guess. Sucks thou.

BigJ the seller sounds like a real winner, you did not do anything wrong IMO but the proper tactic would have been to ask

before you placed a bid. The reason is in his mind (possibly) other bidders placed bids with the intention of paying the 10.00

so in his mind he might think he lost some dough.

Does that make sense? he is not concerned with other auctions just that one.

Don't sweat it, whatever he had you will see again.

    Take care.

Bleh, seller was way too sensitive. Sure, it's better to ask beforehand, but to be all soup-nazi about it? Whatever . . .

And by blocking you he just hurts his repeat customers, which I'd never want to do. Why don't some people like money?

I agree, the shipping was way too high and there is no problem in asking. It would of been better to do it before you bid bet even so all he had to do was say no and i am sure you would of paid the $10.
That is why i hate to block people unless they did something bad...you always are the one to lose money. The person who is blocked could pick the item you were selling from probably 30 other seller on ebay.

  • Seller lost over $100 across several auctions by not allowing me to bid. So maybe the biggest loss wasn't me missing out on some cards hey?

Either way found it odd that it happened at all. After sleep'n looking at all the extra cash now doesn't seem so irritating. Now I can use that money to pay my mortgage.... wait. image
