A few things I need to say...

Takes a bit for me to get what I need to say down on paper and then transposed to the board, so I apologize for the delay in saying this.

First off, I would like to thank all of the well wishes and prayers my fellow boards members have said. It means a lot to me and my family. I also would like to thank all who have offerd to help, or to send me something for my collection, but I must respectfully decline. I never was one to take, I always preferred to give. I ask all to always think about the hobby as a garden you have to tend to every day. Pay it forward to a fellow collector. Bring a new collector into the hobby--be it your son, daughter, niece, nephew, neighbor/coworkers kid. They are the future of this hobby we love.

What has happened on this board is a shame. Years ago we had a few flame wars but nothing to this magnitude. We had our own little island in collectors universe where for the most part people got along. There were more 'look what I got today' threads and scans that followed and a civil nature to the threads. There were accolades for completing sets and finding the white whale. We had giveaways and contests almost daily. It was fun. The arguments and wars were on the sports talk board and the open forum. I never saw threads get locked and deleted over here. Now it seems like a daily event. Newbies were welcomed in without too much apprehension--the bad ones were weeded out. The good ones were valued. Sadly things changed when too many predators took advantage of the good nature on this board. That soured too many people. But the good ones are still here, weathering the storm. Let's everyone just get back to where we were.

And one more thing. Guys, you're not invincible. I was days shy of my 34th birthday when I had my stroke. You read that right. 34. I thought I was invincible. I didn't follow the warning signs. I didn't take care of myself. I had a 6 week old daughter who was born with half a heart when I was in the hospital. The stress and torture my wife went through dealing with me and my daughter in the hospital would've killed a weaker person. But she weathered it. Me? I lost almost two years of my life and lord knows how much longer I have. So I challenge all of you--I implore you--next time you are on a blaster box run, stop by the pharmacy of Walmart or Target and get your blood pressure checked. See your physician every year. Get your cholesterol and your prostate checked. Maybe if more guys here would go for the prostate exam there'd be less stuffed up shiznit on this board. And what you have at home, your kids, your wife/girlfriend--spend more time with them. Let them know how important they are to you. Take them out for a walk just to talk. Cause you don't know how long you have with them.

I believe many of the posts we read on this board are a strong reflection of the type of person that submitted the positive or negative energy.

I couldn't have said it better myself.

Remember guys, let's practice what we preach and stop the needless threads and adding fire to them. Like my dad always told me, if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.

Now let's kiss and make up and MOVE ON.

Mike ... agree 100% ... I too have been tested quite a bit recently ... yeah it SUCKS, but you just have to take each day as it comes ... one day things will get better ... and YES, enjoy every day while you are here ... we do not know what tomorrow will bring ... to all you dad's, make sure you give your kids AT LEAST ONE BIG hug and KISS each and every day ... It scared the hell out of me when Francesca was diagnosed and I didn't know if my little girl would even get the chance to go to Kindergarten.
