This guy's Ebay listing bother me...

I need to rant here. I have been collecting vintage Ruth, Gehrig, DiMaggios and Mantles. I figure that I would get 1 relic card of each of them as well (1 bat card and 1 jersey card). Upon looking on Ebay I always see this guys auctions for a 1/1 relic graded by NSA. The ebay listing is 330399848619 (I can't figure how to link yet). Technically this guy is doing nothing wrong because he states that it is a replica jersey piece but still...Someone will buy it being confused. When they find out it is a fake they will try to pawn it off on some unsuspecting kid or adult as the real thing and now we have these useless cards floating around the hobby. I mean really 1/1???? If I draw a beard on one of my cards can I call it a very rare 1/1? Can we complain to ebay or am I just being crabby. Anyway, I need to vent because my wife doesn't want to hear it as she is trying to wrestle the kids to bed. If I am wrong here let me know.

I'm "sure" the estate of Mickey Mantle and Babe Ruth would like to speak to the sellers hawking these cards.

    I like this one:

YOU ARE BIDDING ON AN EXTREMELY RARE 1909 T-206 REPRINT UNCUT SHEET

SOME OF THE KEY PLAYERS ON THIS SHEET ARE: CY YOUNG, CHRISTY MATHEWSON, CHASE, TITUS, CLYMER

PLUS A TON OF OTHER HOF's

THESE CARDS WERE PRODUCED IN 1984 BY GALASSO COMPANY

THEY FEEL AND LOOK JUST LIKE THE ORIGINALS

APPROX. SIZE OF THE SHEET IS 11 X 17 INCHES

    GREAT FOR FRAMING!

So you mean the 100 of these sheets that I had around 1986 were Rare?

    I could have retired.

    Good for you.

Thats the other thing. People use the word "rare" so often it is basically meaningless.

  • It's all good, each graded by the National Security Agency.

I see rare on so many things that are not rare, it's comical. Some sellers have it on every single one of their 1000 items for sale, AMAZING!!!

Two things I love - he misspelled 'certificate' on the back, and the 'any tampering' disclaimer.

I wonder how the misspelling got past that crack squad of authenticators. I stick at spelling but I am not trying to rip people off.

I asked the guy on ebay about these cards and he told me that he is only a reseller, NSA is the creator of them.

The sad thing about this is we know and understand they are fake, someone new or someone buying for a collector as a gift
might misunderstand exactly what they are getting.

With all that said he does say they are replicas so ebay I assume leaves him alone?

So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts
