  • Pathetic.

That said they do need a playoff. Tired of not having a true national champion. And this past year was no different.

Anyway, it's a multibillion dollar industry operated as a cartel. If it involved anything other than sports, it would already be investigated and no one would be bothered by that. But we pretend to live in this fantasy world where we treat sports as some sort of plaything that isn't real business, doesn't involve real dollars, and doesn't have people making the same possibly illegal actions as they would in any other business. Wake up people, if it's illegal, it's illegal, and as such the officials involved need to be held accountable for it.

  • This is great news! The government should get involved. These are all publicly funded universities with a huge amount of money involved. We all know the current system is not totally fair, so why not make it fair? Every other NCAA sport awards a championship except for FBS football, because it's the big money maker. When huge dollars are at stake, people will manipulate a system to make it favor just a few. That's exactly what we have now.

Just what we need ... someone else trying to stir things up when we, as a whole, are trying to keep all the BS to a minimum.

There's lots of money out there for the eventual "national champions". When the teams are, in part, voted into a championship game then there's room for corruption in some form or another. With the current system, there seems to only be room for big conferences. Sadly, teams like Boise & Utah have recently proven that they can compete with (or even beat) some of the bigger conferences in games. Why can't they have their shot? Voters will continue to vote for the big matchup they want to see and not necessarily the right one. Change needs to be made.

When I first saw the topic I thought Beckett Grading Service was under investigation for something!

Anyway, back to the regularly scheduled program, personally, given the 100+ year(?) history of deciding college football championships by polls (as imperfect as it is), I'm not so sure that a playoff belongs in division 1A (or whatever it's called now) college football.

  • There will be a playoff eventually. People are tired of seasons with 2 teams going undefeated and deciding whos better by a vote.

That would be like the NFL season ending today and voting on who gets the super bowl trophy. SAINTS or COLTS?
