Second TTM Success and first damage....

After following all the TTM threads and sending a few PM to Doug (Dboneesq) about what to do, I decided to give it a try myself. I come from a family of die hard NY Giants fans having gone to games since I was a kid about 10-11 with my dad, and now taking my son (currently 15) to games since he was 5 years old. In April of 2005 I took my dad to the meadowlands to meet the '86 Giants. At the time for whatever reasons, LT was not allowed to attend this function. We were outside in the hallway when he came in and was spirited away being told, "Come on you know you aren't supposed to be here". I decided to try LT as my first "TTM Project" as I held him in high regard and regretted that having a moment to talk with him that day.

I reminded him of the incident and told him how my dad, myself and now my son were 3 generations of "bleed blue" giants fans and would he mind signing three cards one for each of us. I asked him a few questions about his career and that night and hoped for a response. He didn't answer any of the questions but did return all 3 cards with a clear blue signature. To me they appear real , my son and I are very excited. He now is going to try this for himself. Great to have him "hooked" on collecting!

From that April 2005 event I have a few pictures of me and some of the 86-87 Giants. I recently sent a photo of myself and Phil Simms along with two cards to Phil Simms TTM and hope to get those back soon. Hopefully he'll sign the photo which I'll keep and the cards I'll give to my dad and son. Now that I have my first success I will start sending out a few per week. In the beginning it will probably be NY Giants and NY Yankee players, then I'll broaden my horizon. Hope the board doesn't mind another TTM Thread....
(BTW- sent the LT out c/o HOF and received back in 15 days)

the more and more I see LT the more skeptical I'm getting. Not to rain on your parade. I'd like to see someone send his TTM to psa/dna.

I will never forget when I went to the GHO golf tournament in the early to mid 90's and Lawrence Taylor was playing in the pro am. I was able to get his autograph as he was coming off one hole---at least I got the LT part of it. The "aylor" part of his last name didn't come out because my pen ran out.

The good news was that I got Fred Couples and Nick Price right before that and they completed their autographs.

What does PSA/DNA charge to authenticate sigs like these, and to also put a numerical grade on the card? I know they charge an arm and a leg for certain vintage signatures, but is the price similarly high for modern players? And does it cost a bunch to have the card graded as well?

I got a signed LT RC back yesterday that I plan on submitting the next time there is a $10 special.
Currently working on: Kurt Warner PSA 9 or 10

  • No worries my parade has been rained on many times in the past image
Hopefuly since it was sent to the Hall of Fame and came back; it was signed by LT and not someone at the HOF.... I plan on submitting as well next time there is a special; current non special pricing is:
AUTOGRAPHED CARD GRADING & AUTHENTICATION $20* 20 BUSINESS DAYS
Any autographed card with a declared value under $500. Autographed cards with a declared value over $500 must be submitted under higher service levels. Declared value rules apply. With Grade or No Grade: Customer has the option to select with grade or no grade (no grade is assigned but card is authenticated and encapsulated).

Wow. $20 for some guy to throw a dart at a dartboard? That seems really high, especially for modern signers. Thank you, though, for the information.
  • Well I have had my second success and at the same time first damaged sucess... I met Phil Simms back in 2005 and had my picture taken with him. I thought what better item to send in for my second try at TTM then that? So I included a few cards along with the picture and a letter asking for his signature. Cards came back perfect, unfortunately the picture got damaged in the shipping...

It appears as though the envelope got stuck to the picture... I had placed the picture in a "trimmed" Fed Ex cardboard envelope and placed that into a tyvek envelope and sent it off... man was I disappointed when I realized that it was stuck to the picture and wasn't coming off... was a great signature and inscription as well...

Now I am wondering do I try it again? Send another picture and explain what happened and see if he'll give me a "do-over"?

You could send him both pics, explaining what happened, and tell him to keep the first. He should understand.

    AGREED! GOOD LUCK!

PS Maybe you should put the pic inside a vinyl sleeve first.
