What now demolished MLB ballpark(s) should've been saved?

EstilEstil Posts: 7,058 ✭✭✭✭
BESIDES the recently (or soon-to-be) Tiger and Yankee Stadium (only count the long ago demolished parks).

I personally think it would've been cool if there had been some way Old Comiskey Park could've been saved (but was replaced after the owner threatened to move to St. Petersburg if he didn't get it). After all, Chicago also has Wrigley and Soldier Field (though like the old Yankee Stadium, it wasn't really the same after the big renovation). From old films and photos it did look like quite an interesting ballpark and certainly was better than the plain jane New Comiskey (I am NOT calling it by its corporate name!).

So what old ballpark do you think should've been saved? Again, BESIDES Tiger or Yankee Stadium.

But isn't it true that Ebbets Field wasn't nearly as well-admired when it was actually used then how it is now? At least according to Wikipedia.

    << <i>Polo Grounds.

Though still existing, I might add the Astrodome. I understand "the eight wonder of the world" will soon be demolished at some point. >>

totally agree with Polo Grounds, what a sight it would have been for current and future generations of players and fans

The old Yankee Stadium was ruined in the Mid-1970s, not worth saving.

Other than Ebbets field, i can't think of any other old park that should have been saved.
  • Tiger Stadium for sure. Always one of my favorites. I loved those upper decks.
Yankee Stadium should have been nuked 50 years ago. Same goes for the
    New Yankee Stadium.

I don't think Cleveland Municipal Stadium should have been saved, especially since Jacobs...I mean Progressive Field is so nice, but I miss the old bullpens from Municipal Stadium....you were right down there and could actually talk to the players, even shake their hand if you wanted....now it's like they are buried in trenches at the new park. The old park is the only place I ever got a ball, it was while someone who I don't remember was warming up and they threw the ball in the dirt...I remember Ray Fosse was catching and it bounced up and into the stands...I plucked it out of the air....was only a bullpen ball but it's the closest I ever got. al.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure from a MLB standpoint, there wasn't much love for Cleveland Municipal Stadium. Maybe the Browns fans thought more highly of it though?

And I'm pretty sure most nobody misses any of the cookie cutters.

Tulane Stadium in New Orleans. I used to go see Saints and Green Wave games and I always felt like the place would collapse at any moment. Made losing games a bit more exciting!

I miss three rivers stadium. The park that Clemente and Stargell built. And soooo many Steelers memories. It just isnt the same watching a Home Steelers game not played at three rivers.
