I don't think it's right for the host network to publically say who they want in the Super Bowl

CBS publically says who they "want" in the Super Bowl

I could not believe this article. You mean to tell me that CBS (I'm presuming the network hosting the Super Bowl this year) is publically and clearly stating who they do or do not want in the Super Bowl??? Call me old fashioned but I think this is extremely inappropriate and unprofessional for the host network. What's next, the commish publicity saying which teams he'd "prefer" in their showcase event (World Series, Super Bowl, etc)?

On a related note, do you remember back in 1997 when the Indians and Marlins went to the World Series, and how some in the media implied that they (especially the wild card Marlins; first wild card team in MLB to get to the World Series) didn't really deserve to be there (and thought at the time the Braves and Orioles "should" have gone instead). If they don't like wild cards being in the World Series, maybe MLB should've thought about this before doing wild cards? Now Indians manager Mike Hargrove at the time took it all in stride, but not Marlins manager Jim Leyland, oooooooh noooooooo. In their press conference he was absolutely P***ED about it. Yet that same year the NFL's Broncos went to and won the Super Bowl as a wild card, yet no one in the media had a problem with it.

PS: I don't suppose there's a video of Mr. Leyland's conference on YouTube or something, is there?

<< <i>“The matchup that will do the best is Indianapolis against Minnesota,” said former CBS Sports president Neal Pilson, who now runs his own consultancy firm >>

Note the former CBS Sports president Neal Pilson He no longer works for CBS and no where in the article it says CBS stated who they prefer in the Super Bowl.

Well, the headline read "Why CBS wants the Jets to lose". My mistake.

It's all about ratings and money to them.

They could care less about the game or who plays or who wins.

It's always been that way and always will be.

Just think how uneventful it would be if say....Detroit was playing Cleveland!

If that was next year, could you imagine at the beginning of the season what the odds of that matchup would be?

A Vikings-Jets Super Bowl would be just fine with me...

Yep. Loving the Saints-Colts matchup. Of course, as a New Orleans transplanted Carolina resident and Hurricanes fan, I loved the Hurricanes-Oilers Stanley Cup finals in 2006. I'm guessing that the networks weren't really thrilled about it.

Yes, the Colts-Saints should be a very entertaining game. And I really don't give a chit about the the networks if their earnings suffer because of this...one of them can afford to give Conan O'Brien, a ratings failure, like 30 million dollars just to void his contract, so they waste money beyond belief anyway...let them all go out of business for all I care.

In what way was O'Brien a ratings failure? He surely has been on a long time for a faiure. Somebody must like him.
