I think I a might be able to get used to it... yes, I just might.
While I generally have not liked the new designs that have been coming out, there are two that I have really liked and wish they would be continued. The first is the Sac dollar and the second is the 2005 nickel obverse. It's a shame it was only a one year thing.
I just looked through a roll last night. Bewteen the spots and the dings there were not many candidates for the Dansco. I found a decent one except for that darn spot on the obverse I like the design but as mentioned, they should have given the red stripes a different texture or shading. It is a nice change from the old memorial cent. Seems strange calling the memorial cent old...

Where have you critics been since the Kennedy Half came out in 1963? I think we have the same problem and solution here. The stripes look distinctiver in the latest on-line edition of Coin World.
I don't mean any disrespect to those who have chimed in as liking the new coin, but personally all I see is a bunch of 150 year old motifs & off-the-rack fonts, hastily photoshopped together with no real finesse or aesthetic love, as struck on planchets that are literally toxic to wild life & small children, all for the perpetuation of any utterly worthless denomination.
As an artist, a lover of numismatics, and a proud American, this coin sincerely makes me want to cry.

I can't really argue with this. The really sad thing, however, is that this design is better than some of the more recent circulating designs.

Maybe this recent design along with the recent Native Dollars opens the doors for future coinage???
This design definitely recalls a 19th century motif. I think there is a pattern out there that somebody has as their avatar that looks vey similar. Anyone familiar with this???

I just received 5 2010 cents from an eBay offer. The stripes are too indistinct for my taste. I see one effect on all my cents which is also in the pix shown here. The second stripe comes down and intersects with the ribbon above N of CENT. There is no stripe/ribbon boundary. It just flows together snoothly. The ribbon has a boundary eeverywhere else.
It is hard to tell that the EPU is incuse, but it must be from anaylizing the shadows it casts.
Why is the border between the 1st/2nd and 12th/13th stripes curved inwards? TD

I really like the design...the real question is do I want to pay $17 + shipping on Ebay right now for a roll
Should I just wait to get some directly from the mint on the release date if I am not planning on opening the rolls? I haven't purchased anything from the mint in about 5 years but this may be the first
Well, I like the new Obv., I do not like the new Rev. at all. Looks like play money. Lacks a quality of "seriousness" IMHO.

There is a very good reason why you all seem to like the obverse on the new 2010 Lincoln cent. A plaster model was made from the original 1909 galvano; the model was then scanned into a computer for digital modification. Translation: Victor D. Brenner's original portrait of Abraham Lincoln has been virtually restored with modern technology.

For history to repeat itself, by now there should be a populist outcry on the TV opinon shows about the initials on the new design. Maybe they have an alterior meaning!
Anyway, Mint will be forced to remove them and this will create a "rare" variety.

I wonder if they struck patterns or relied only on computer imaging.
