My wife gave me a great anniversary gift - a PSA 9 card!!!

I was ogling this card for the centering - it's a Levi card - and surprisingly only 25 over SMR!

My wife said - it's yours for our 29th anniversary.

It's not like I was hinting or anything.

I'm lucky that I have an understanding wife about this "thing" we call a hobby.

Here tis:

I think I'll keep her around for the next 29! image

  • Nice card stone. For Christmas, my wife stole my 1960 topps checklist, went to a cardshop, and asked for a lot of 10 cards in NM condition. I was pretty happy!!! It's great when your significant other takes interest or at least allows for our crazy hobbies.

  • Congrats on the 29 years most of all, but thats a great gift. I love 63F, sharp examples like yours look like they are in a slab only to prevent them from slicing your fingers.

Incidentally, my wife hates the 'hobby' too. Lucky for me she is dedicated to vintage Barbie, so we are forced to allow each other run wild.

At least Fleer didn't airbrush his Houston Colt 45 uniform and hat like Topps would have since he was obviously traded to the San Francisco Giants by the time the cards were printed.

Very cool. My wife is very considerate of my affliction (it helps that our son loves baseball and cards).

Congrats on the anniversary, treat that woman well.

My wife is OK with my colecting habits. I have a certain amount that i spend each month and whatever I win when I play poker with my friends. She is addicted to tag sales and collecting other things so she can understand. She actually bought me a 1968 Mickey Mantle once for christmas that i told her about at the local card shop.

    wow! nice card mike.

    she's definitely a keeper.

my wife purchased me an 83 topps traded darryl strawberry rookie when they were selling for $100 (before the grading craze)...well, after that wonderful investment she says she will never buy me a card again. LOL, she is great.

Mrs. gtgrad99 doesn't mind them as long as their purchase is funded by the sales of other cards.

Mike - it should have been obvious. 20th anniversary is China, 25th is Silver, 29th is Amalfitano. Congrats! Next year you can expect a photo signed in Silver Sharpie. It's just tradition. Can't mess with it.

Congratulations. My wife and I celebrated our 42nd 5 days ago. I tell people "We have been happily married 12 years, 12 out of 42 ain't bad, is it?" My wife does not really share my sense of humor.

  • Hap-py Anniversary, Mike! What a great gift!

We're in similar situations. I've been married 28 years as of last November and, for our anniversary, my wife asked me which Kirby kards I needed. I printed out a list from my Excel spreadsheet and I got some nice additions to my Set Registry!

    Sweet on both ends!!

    Hope you have fun celebrating!
  • BTW, I've been curious how the location of that yellow diamond affects the calculation of the centering. Now I know with your "Minty" gift!

    Thanks for sharing your experience!

Well guys - I would like to just say thanx for the generous and gracious kind words.

It's why I come here all the time and why I stay.

If you remember, I wrote a piece on "Why we collect?" - well one of the key things is to be able TO SHARE WITH FELLOW COLLECTOR FRIENDS - well that's one of the motivators that most of us thrive on - to continue to collect.

I don't think Jim aka Davilillo would be working on all those sets if he couldn't share the fruits of his labor with others? It's what we do.

So, thanx for letting me share.

    Thanx for letting me contribute.

Thanx for listening to me - especially on the stuff that I know ya may have no interest in - my sheet music, Topps art, board games, pins and all the other junk.

    Your Friend

I'll echo the sentiments of others. Great card and obviously a great wife. Does anybody know what stadium that is on the Amalfitano card? I'm going to say the Polo Grounds as the Mets played there a few years before Shea was built.
