ebay automatic payment reminder

If this has been asked already my apologies. I did do a search though and came up empty.

I was wondering if there is a way to make the automatic payment reminders stop? I have someone who won an auction from me 7 days ago and I feel like ebay is harassing them for my money.

The guy probably thinks it's me doing it and honestly if I was getting this many payment reminders I would be pizzed. I don't send a payment reminder until day 10 or even longer if it is a smaller amount.

  • I think it's a good thing. I've been jerked around way to many times as a seller. I believe if you don't have the money to pay at end of auction then don't bid. What I don't agree with is... a Seller can not leave negative feedback.

I recently won several auctions on ebay from a board member. The auctions were ending several days a part and we agreed to wait until they were all over before I paid.

During that time I received several emails from ebay reminding me to pay and I personally found them irritating. Imo, if they would wait longer than 3 or 4 days or if they let the sellers choose how long to wait it would be different.

Agreed- there needs to be a way to make that stop. It's not helpful, and sellers are fully capable of sending out their own reminders when they see fit. If I was a little more cynical I'd think this a move by Ebay to just slightly tick off buyers, so that they ding the seller's DSR stars in the 'communication' section, since most buyers probably don't know that these are automatically generated.

I actually thought the same thing. I thought that he forgot about our deal and was asking me for the money. Ebay should at least make it clear that they are sending the reminder and not the seller.

I looked around on ebay and could not find a way to stop them from sending them out.

This is *VERY* annoying, especially when I receive them less than 48 hours after winning an auction.

At first, I thought I was dealing with obnoxious sellers who were sending out frequent messages, but at least it's good to know that I'm not.

  • Unfortunatly the only way to stop being annoyed by something is to be more annoying. I agree that those emails are amaturish, incipid and boring. ESPECIALLY when they are sent after the item was already paid or marked as paid.

Therefore each time I receive one, I respond back saying "these emails are a waste of time, shouldn't you be working to improve your web site instead?

The problem though is a lot of buyers don't know this and they believe the seller is pushing for a payment.

Most of what I sell on ebay is buy it now items through my store. I think what I am going to start doing is send my invoices out with a note that says something like this:

Thank you for your purchase! Please know that I look forward to receiving your payment within 10 days of the auction close, if you happen to receive a payment reminder before 10 days has passed please ignore as it is being generated by ebay automatically and is out of my control.

  • I agree, they need to stop with those emails. When I run an auction over 3-4 nights I ask everyone to wait until the last day to pay after I've sent an invoice. By day 3, or a day BEFORE all of my actions end I get at least 3-4 emails from buyers asking why I'm asking for payment when I've said it's OK to wait. If they want send reminders out, wait for 7-10 days.

I have no problem whatsoever with them. I'm tired of deadbeats that seem to think it's OK to to wait a couple weeks to pay for a 20 dollar item. I certainly don't head down to Best Buy, place an item I want on the counter and comeback 2 weeks later to pay for it.

Now if a buyer has the decency to let me know he's short on money and can't pay me for a week or so then I wouldn't have any problem with that at all.

My thoughts are if a buyer is getting these notices from me because he's a slow payer, then he's getting them from everyone else too.

Yeah, but we are not talking about 20 days, ebay starts sending out reminders at 3 or 4 days, there is a big difference.

Even if you didn't have a problem with it and you agreed to wait a week ebay is going to send a reminder on your behalf any way.

I win several auctions a week. I don't always pay right away. Not because I'm jerking the seller around, but just for convenience. I pay for everything I win about once every three days. All wins come up as one on paypal and I only have to log into paypal once and pay once for several items from multiple seller. Also, many times if you win multiple items from one seller it takes 24 plus hours for the combined shipping to show on the invoice. What's the big hurry????

I ignore auto pay emails from ebay. I just delete them.

too bad they don't start sending them every 15 minutes to people that haven't paid after 4 days

Because sellers can file NPB-claims FOUR-DAYS after a listing ends,
the reminders have to be sent early and often.

    ..

    Courteous buyers should pay promptly.

Sellers who want their money fast should use BINs with Immediate Payment Required.

I've gotten most of my recent ones @ 48 hours after the end of the auction, more than once for a card I had already marked as "Payment sent."

My initial reaction to getting one of these was similar to what you guys have described, but once I got a couple more, I realized the pattern and that it was eBay's doing. Always looking for a way to put a few more grains of sand in your shorts image
