Topps Redemption Horror Stories!!!

Ok, maybe this isn't a "horror story" but today I recieved this card in the mail after mailing out a 2008 Co-Signers redemption ONE YEAR AGO! It is a Lou Piniella uncirculated autographed card. I originally sent out for a Jeff Francis/Jason Hirsh Dual auto but I guess I will settle for the future HoFer. I received a letter with the card stating:

"Thank you for your submission of the 2008 Co-Signers BB -- Jeff Francis/Jason Hirsh Dual Autograph redemption.

We apologize for the extensive delay, however, we were trying to obtain the exact card specified on you original redemption. Due to circumstances beyond our control, we have not been ale to obtain the exact card specified. Enclosed, you will find a replacement equal in value to the original redemption.

We hopeyou will enjoy the substitute card we have enclosed. Again, we apologize for the delay and greatly appreciate your businessand continued interest in the Topps' products.

Sincerely,

Consumer Relations Team
The Topps Company, Inc."

Does this happen often? I have few modern redemptions that I send in and this was an interesting experience. Do any of you have any redemption stories that do not have as happy of an ending? Thoughts?

  • I spent over $250 on two 2002 Finest Yao Ming Auto redemptions. I got the dreaded letters and two autos cards of Ben Gordon and some other rookie. None the less, I only buy singles that aren't redemptions. There is no more bang for your buck these days. I'd rather spend $125 on a 1972 Wax pack or a couple 70's cellos.

Topps has done it that to me more than once!
  • Sadly, a very common occurence.

I'm mailing the same redemption tomorrow. It's been sitting on my desk for a month now. Hopefully I'll get a Pinella instead.

  • The closest thing would be I sent in a redemption for a "random 3 card rookie" pack that never showed up. Emailed Upper Deck multiple times and not once did I get a reply.

Ive sent in TWO Topps redemptions, one came back as advertised, the other was a replacement. Redemptions are a joke. If you dont have it, DONT include it
