Foolproof way to get a card out of a PSA holder. Please tell me :)

I want to get some cards out that graded less than a 7 but I dont want to damage them. Thanks in advance for all replies! Dean

Using the tip of the knife, carefully and gradually score the edges of the holder (the gap between the two halves of the holder. Once you've worked it so that you can get the knife all the way through the weld, and starting at the top (so that if you push too hard and the knife goes too deep into the holder, you don't damage the card), work the knife all the way around the holder until the two halves come apart.

Exactly what I do. Very effective.

I've done it a few different ways and I've found this way to be most effective and repeatable without incident...

And I'd assume one of the TOP corners, obviously.
I've got a '62 Babe Ruth card (8 ST) with wax on the front I'd like to break out and re-sub. Thanks for the tip on cracking.
Put the card, on its side, in a vice.
put a chisel in the groove on the side of the slab by the label
give it one decent smack with the hammer
do the same to the other side
you can then use the chisel and slide it around the opening in the slab
it opens up quite easily and very clean. Almost too clean.
This card was cracked out and sent to Mr. Pafko for signature.
Unfortunately it came back "RTS"
I put it back n the slab.

I would feel better if it was not possible to do this.

Same here. Only damaged one but that was because I dropped it on the floor afer removing it.
Method doesn't work as well for BGS/BVG slabs.
