Collecting idea

If it were going to start a collection of Football Cards, it would be a basic Topps set of the second year cards of Hall of Famers from 1957 to date. A li ttle off beat and more affordable.

Anyone else doing this?

No, but it is an interesting idea. The only thing is a lot of the lesser hall of famers i.e. offensive lineman, defensive players have pretty cheap rookie cards. Also, modern rookies are pretty cheap. Should be fun for you. Though, you will have to buy the Earl Campbell rookie.
  • I think that's a great idea.
  • Hi Greg,

If funds are an issue, it is a great idea. I have a friend who has been doing this for a few years and he loves it. The savings in cost from the rookie card is astronomical.

    Hi Greg

I don't collect FB - but that would be a good idea for BB also.

But, even 2nd yr cards of HOF'ers in some instances would cost ya!

    I am a bit eccentric and off-the-wall.

When I was in the business full-time, I specialized in FB from 1991-1993. At one point, I was snarfing 1966 Namaths in NM or better for about $100 per. Even the rookies were getting expensive at the time. I had about 15 of them at one point.

I have three, young kids, but I have a strong collecting gene! <vbg>
