Just got grades back from my voucher

I had a 12 card voucher to go along with my CC membership.

The grades were as follows:

1909 Cy Young Portrait/Common Back: PO 1
1933 Goudey SK Ruth: NG, Authenticity (I had a feeling)
1963 Topps Buc Blasters, Mets Team (3), Tom Tresh SP: NM-MT 8
1963 Topps Mantle: NM 7
1963 Topps Brock: NM-MT 8.5 (VERY happy with that one)
1964 Topps Rose: NM-MT 8
1966 Topps Mantle (2): EX 5 AND EX-MT 6

I have some other high grade 1963's recently purchased from a fresh, old-time collection including a Mantle that should grade at least an "8." It's a thrill since I mostly deal in coins.

Thanks,

Greg

FWIW, it was going to grade no better than a Good 2. I bought it years ago with the feeling that it might be 50/50 if it were authentic.

Besides the higher grade Mantle, I have some crossovers from SGC including a 1952 Bowman Musial graded a 92, a 1953 Bowman Rizzuto graded an 88, and a 1961 Maris AS graded an 88 as well. In addition, I have a Cobb/Crawford double fold which is probaby VG-EX 4, but it has slight paper loss on the front. I just want to get that one in a holder.

Thanks. I bought a lot of stuff in the 1980's from a guy named Paul Lewicki. His prices were firm, but you got a 10% discount if you spent more than $500.00.

I distinctively remember cherrypicking 1968 Topps Mantles from vending at $35.00 per from him at a card show in Kenilworth, NJ. I bought 10 of them.

  • Okay, now I'm really jealousimage

That was in 1986. I sold them about six months later to an investor for double that. I was only 20 years old.

    Nice sub!

    Sorry about the Ruth.

There was some great stuff out there in '86 - and even then, it seemed expensive - who knew?
