Not all TTMs Have a Happy Ending

Received these today courtesy of the USPS with a sincere note of apology reminding me about how many pieces of mail they handle a year. Luckily this does not happen often.

Wow - that is awful...especially because those were vintage cards that were destroyed. PM me your address and I'll send you a 2000 Fleer GOTG signed Bednarik card...if you'd like.

  • Greg,
Thanks for the offer. I have dupes of the cards. What I am going to do is to send two more to Mr. Bednarik with these "scraps" and ask for a do-over due to the mishap.

I'm sure that CB would be accomodating. Are you collecting the 55B and 56T sets or just CB cards?

  • While I have several of both sets, I collect mostly BB and FB HOFers.

Smuggo ... that sucks! Hopefully he will sign the others if you show him what happened to the originals. GOOD LUCK!

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
  • Thanks for the well wishes. I am sure once he sees what the Cookie Monster did to these he will have more mercy on me than he did Frank Gifford! On a happier note, these also came and somehow survived the sorting machine.

  • Ugh. The last two pieces of collectible mail I have received has been damaged. You may recall a post last month about a triple signed '82 Ripken that had the envelope ripped to pieces but the card somehow survived. Yesterday I received an oversized envelope from George H.W. Bush that the mail carrier decided to force in my mailbox and damage one of the edges.
  • thats really unfortunate! thats a nice billy kilmer though!

A month from now, he will send you the cards and they will be EX condition when he said NRMT/MT. Possibly even have postage due.
  • Wow! That is a heartbreaker. I am sure he will understand and redo.
