Two PR70 DCAM Ikes for sale

Now that I got your attention, anyone else see the latest Heritage mailer? The Pike #1 Reg Set of Ikes is going up for auction at the Columbus show April 25-27.

Included are the 72-S & 74-S in 70DC. Any guesses as to final hammer price?

Did not hear that but there is probably no such thing as a PR70DC (or MS70 since we are on the topic) Ike.

Sure that it will get good $ since somebody will want to increase their Reg Set number rating as sometimes the rule is buy the holder and forget about the coin.
    My eBay Items

I love Ike dollars and all other dollar series !!!

I also love Major Circulation Strike Type Sets, clad Washingtons ('65 to '98) and key date coins !!!!!

If ignorance is bliss, shouldn't we have more happy people ??

    I've heard the rumors.

I went to heritage and couldn't find the coins though.

    Are pictures up?
    Can anyone post a link?

I couldn't find anything on their site either. The mailer was postmarked 03/12 in Dallas, TX and arrived Saturday.

The photos for the #1 Proofs should be available in 7 -10 days since they are part of the CSNS Signature Sale; also the #16 Circulation Strike set will be sold then as well. 2nd coins are available now with photos in the internet only sale some end Tuesday March 19. Others in upcoming weeks as well as in the "Bullet" sale associated with CSNS. See images as they are listed at www.hrcg.com
    Thanks for your interest.

PS I didn't know that Heritage would publicize these coins like this!

PPS Re the 70 DCs: Appropriate reserves will be posted for all the ikes (% of CU listed price); Tried to buy any lately!

I'm looking forward to seeing the sale (and bumping up for Wingsrule). I think that I am more interested in the MS coins than the PR coins. Want to see if the market has stabilized or if it is still rising.

What does that make the super rare coins worth???

Can anyone tell me the difference between a Pf69 and a Pf70 besides the price???

These look nice, but worth 4 figures???

Maybe I should try making some. All you need to do is make one and you're rich.

    James,
Maybe so, but try to make 'em... Pcgs has seen the writing on the wall. Unless your B&M or DH you won't make an Ike in 70DC.
These will have a reasonable reserve - a % of CU price guide - any above that will be feeding frenzy. Oh, and remember I offered them to you a month ago!<g>

As I mentioned in a post a while back... 30 of the 32 PCGS PR70 Ikes ever made (including these two) were from the same bulk submission, and none have been made since. Anybody know who that lucky submitter was?

I think the lucky submitter might have been Keith somebody or other (a big modern proof maker) in SC or maybe NC (Numismatic Consultants).

    Supercoin,
I remember that post but, I don't remember WHEN you said they were "made". I wonder.....

The 30 coins -- 20 1972-S and 10 1974-S -- were made in a single bulk submission somewhere in the Oct-Dec 1998 timeframe. The first two (one 72-S and one 78-S) were made some months before that, in two different submissions spaced widely apart.

Got a conspiracy theory you'd like to share? image

Keith Reuben. That's the fellows name. Anyone know for sure if he was the one that made them?

    Supercoin,
I thought so, when I started in Ikes the 70DC "total" pop was 3. That was late 98. The rumor at that time is there were over 150 of all dates in PRoof was submitted. There also was a jump in 69DC total pop about that time. Am I right ? Also this is the time frame some of the rarer 66s and 67s circs were made? I still contend it will be VERY tough to make a DC70 IKE today.

As far as I know, the high-grade MS pieces don't have any correlation to the PR70 coins. They are also not the results of bulk submissions, either -- again, to the best of my knowledge.

You are correct regarding making a PR70 Ike today, essentially a 0% chance. Even (or in some cases, especially not) if you started with some PR70 crackouts. image

    Supercoin,
BUT, was I right in my memory of an increase in 69DCs around the same time?

PS - Thanks for the coins I've bought from you over the last couple of years - your an honest guy who loves these modern shiny things!<g>
