Didn't see this one coming! From the Heritage auction...

I bid too much on some coins again-mainly for my Canadian sets.
But this wasn't one of them.
I had lost a George 111 penny graded PCGS 65-because the $2,000 plus figure just about tripled
what I felt I could manage to put into it.
So I bid on this one; graded MS 62, in an NGC holder, and got it for around $300 plus the juice.
I expected a decent coin and at least I could get a George 111 penny set started, and perhaps
upgrade it later. But I really didn't expect, because the photos gave no hint of it, the gorgeous
colors of the coin. Just bowled me over.
Once again, my shoddy photography doesn't begin to do justice. The colors are not as bright as
the coin displays when rotated under light and, since I had to tilt the coin and shoot through
the plastic, only one side displays anything like the true colors, and even that side is subdued.
But this image will give you a hint anyway. Just imagine that the color side is duplicated on the
other side of the coin but not showing because of the tilt.
The focus problems are the result of the tilt as well...
This next coin is a Victoria penny that I bought on Ebay for about $70.
I'm pretty sure (sincerely hope :+) it's uncirculated and may or may not get a decent grade.
What I DO know is that it's a very nice toning example; particularly the reverse.
Even though I don't have the "shooting through layers of plastic" excuse, I can still maintain
my "crappy photography" excuse which, indeed it is. Maybe I'll learn the tricks-or at least the basics-
some day...

Cool die clash on the Vicki.
Very nice pickups by the way.

I think you're right about that Mac.
Now I've got to figure out to how to take advantage of it. Certainly not by buying more right now.
I'm seriously thinking of re-focusing my collection (haven't done that in a couple of weeks now).
My new goals are to quit chasing shiny things no matter the country, denomination or grade, and to settle
in and complete at least 2 or 3 of the Canada registry sets I'm working on.
On the British coins and medals, as Margaret Thatcher said: "We can't go on this way" :+). So I'm going to have to quit
jumping into every possible series out there just because I couldn't resist a particular piece.
This means that everything that isn't George 111 or George IV: farthings, pennies and half pennies, has to go,
or at least lay dormant, until i can get a few sets at least 75% complete. I just don't have the funds to
do any more than that. So I may even be putting some Heritage buys up for sale in the near future; while I
can still get 70 cents on the dollar. Otherwise they'll gain squatter's rights in my collection and I'll never do it.
Does this make any sense at all?
Please say "No"- because if I does I probably won't do it

coin addiction.
The one posted earlier is nicer than this one, but hey! I had to join the scrabble for the leftovers.
