lol I love all these people that spout off long-winded diatribes about how we should all learn to embrace steroids because "everyone was on them and they don't make you better at sports." These are probably the people with Bonds and McGwire stashes just trying to save some face. lol Yeah, Bonds just magically went from around 40 HRs a season to almost double that because he FINALLY learned how to play better... it just so happened to be right when he started using that it happened. Pure coincidence. lol

Hey, just because Griffey's career high in HR jumped 67% from 1992 to 1993 doesn't mean he was on roids. Nor do the constant muscle and joint injuries.

They're just things that look remarkably like things that happen to PED users.

I'm not sure anyone on these boards is qualified to answer this question. My hope is that he is clean and I'm not a Griffey fan, but I hope he's clean.

So it would shock you if Justin Upton hits 45 next season? Good young players can get really good really fast. And steroids help you stay uninjured, not the other way around. Griffey Jr. has been on a steady decline since his prime, PED users flourish as they age.

  • << <i>Predisone is a corticosteroid. I had to take them 2x in my life and both times I wanted to kill people.

They are not the steroids that the players were taken. they are mainly used as a anti inflammatory.

    Morning,

Interesting, I have taken Predisone dozens of time for my Gout and Gouty Arthritus, never have a felt any emotional changes...Period, I might as well have been eating rocks except for the fact that Nothing and I mean Nothing can kick a Gout attack in the Arse like Predisone...Period. It is a Game changer and can reduce an attack from 1-3 weeks to two days or less.

Someone who has never lived through an extreme Gout Attack could never understand how life changing the drug can be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And I would test positive for Steroid use!!!

I have taken steroids several times in the past year. Reasons ranged from sinues to an allergic reaction from a bug bite.

Can't say definitively if they made me "stronger" or not; however, I did heal extremely fast.

Edited to add: Bagwell was clean, promise.

  • Not a power hitter but I think biggio was clean and should get into the HOF.

Four months ago, I went out with some friends and one invited a guy who happened to be a Class A Pitcher and had been drafted in the 4th round 2 years before. I had a good long talk with him about baseball. He had hurt his arm and in his own words "was taking stuff to get back faster". I asked if many players in the minors were taking ped's and he said most were, over 80%. I was kinda shock at this. He said HGH was the main thing but named a couple things I had never heard of, he said anything that can not be detected was tried. I asked him why and he said the difference is a minor league contract is $40,000 vs a $2,000,000 major league one and that it was worth the risk.

i hope nothing comes out about Jr.

i don't think there will be anything, he really didn't explode with muscle and kept getting hurt, isn't that what PED are supposed to stop

Depends on the 'roids being taken. If a steroid user overuses or uses them to grow larger than their frame can handle, muscle tears and joint problems follow.

    well said.

  • << <i>I wouldnt say he is clean, he just never has had proof against him.

He started right when the Steroids era started to take off, and Im sure he had many opportunities ....

I played high level ball in the mid 1980's (drafted by Expos in 1985) and I saw alot of Steroid experimentation by a good % of the younger players I played against in Cal. It was very easy to go across the border into Mexico back then and get all you need from the local pharmacy.

IMO, Many of you should just drop the issue if it bothers you, Steroids was all over the place 15-25 years ago, and Im sure Canseco was 100% correct from what I saw myself.

Steroids help a player recover from injury or a workout faster, they dont Make the player.

Bonds was always a great player, not because of the 'roids.

It Was the Steroid Era, not unlike the Greenies Era of the 1950-60s, Cocaine of the 1980s and 1900s, etc.

PS Pitchers these guys faced used them too, so ..... >>

Very well put and I agree with you 100%.

With respect to Griffey - I'm with Steve (Winpitch) that he is the clean/cleaner of the entire league - the thing I alluded to - he may have taken HGH some time in his career - due the injuries that he had.

So, if he took that particular steroid, it was for a very short time - and only to enhance and hasten the healing process - and then done with them.

I'm a big fan of Jr and Thomas BTW.
