OT: It has been a year!!

Ok guys. For all of you that were posting last January 15th, it has been a year since my wife was on the USAirways Flight 1549 that splash-landed in the Hudson. Say a quick little prayer for us. She flew back to NYC (by herself and without Xanax) yesterday. I am flying up there tomorrow night. Friday is the BIG PARTY!! There will be a champagne toast on the Hudson River at 3:31 then a small get together of several hundred that night. What a blessing they all are!! I believe The Early Show on CBS may have an exclusive for the festivities. My wife is one of the spokespeople for the event, so should be an interesting day!

Thanks to all on the boards for your support over the last year...and, especially to you locals guys who I have gotten to know and have become good friends!!

Oh yea, and if you are out and about near a book store. Look for this...my wife is one of the features:

I appreciate all of you guys!!

Mike ... so glad to see that your wife was able to board that plane. Wishing both of you a safe round trip. Enjoy the festivities and know that it was not time for anybody on board to leave us that day. Your wife and family will be in my prayers on Friday.

    STAY HEALTHY!

Why did I read this? I'm flying out of Newark in about 10 hours for two weeks of R&R in Aruba. I certainly hope the trip is uneventful as I DON'T want to celebrate any anniversaries next year.

Mike: Have a safe trip and revel in the happiness of the safety and health of all aboard that lucky flight!

    Mike,

I sent a couple of my custom made Sully cards out to him to try and get you and I one signed. I still haven't gotten them back and don't count on them coming back. I know you wanted one of them, so please PM me your mailing address and I'll get one of the unsigned ones out to you. I never did find a suitable 16 x 20 either, every picture I found was too bad of resolution to make a large blowup of. I don't usually have failures, but I failed on this one. Sorry about that.

Shoot me your address and I'll get a Sully card out to you.

    Take care,

    Mike

Mike, I am real fortunate to live so close to you that we are able to get together and golf, and such. I know we have talked about that day on a number of occasions over lunch, and it never ceases to give me chills about what might have been going through your head that day, when you learned the flight your wife was on went down. I would tell you to count your blessings, but I know you do everyday when you tuck all three (Vicki, Sam and Jr.) to bed.

Personally, I had no idea that a fellow board member was on the flight.

It truly is an amazing story.

    Sully Rocks.

Wasn't a board member, it was a board members wife.

Ok, back from NYC. It was an incredible event that was put together for the Reunion of the Passengers of Flight 1549. We had a great time, but glad to be home. Probably had one of the more fun experiences since the event occured last January happened while we were up there this weekend. Dinner with two other couples (all of the wives were on the plane on Row 26) on Thursday night. I am the one on the far left, my beautiful wife is on the far right....do you recognize anyone else?

Clint Eastwood is now making a movie on Sullenberger's life. He and Tom Hanks (who is said to have signed up for the role) traditionally like adding real people other than actors for certain roles. Could be a neat opportunity for your wife or others to participate and be in the movie.

Heh. Read the opening post and thought to myself, "Wow, a whole year already." Then I thought, "hmmm, sure seems like it's been a lot longer than a year." Then I looked at the date of the opening post.

    <sigh>
