Nice pop sunday night

nice pop tonight in trading. I am not a "daily trader" and never pretended to be. but for those of you who do follow daily trades, is a pop on Sunday night normal, abnormal, or of no particular significance? thanks.

Lot's of times it's on news that occurs over the weekend or that is released on Monday morning in Asia. They are either catching up from their Friday close or reacting to Saturday/Sunday before the west can. In this case the driver seems to some positive China economic data that was realized here this morning ( i'm in asia). Make no mistake about it, NY can reverse anything that happens in Europe or Asia very quickly. The gold market is relatively thin, especially oveseas. Happy New Year Alan. MJ

It is not normal, but nice when it does happen.

I think it's clear that gold is in a nice up-trend, for now. Gold is starting to behave like it was in Oct/Nov '09. Too early yet to say if gold is ready for new highs, but I think the current trend is good for $1190-1200 at least.
