Why do FG kickers all of sudden stink?

I can't remember a worse year for kickers. It's been outright atrocious.....a few years ago, FGs under 40 were automatic, now everything is a crapshoot...Longwell and Kaeding are the only 2 kickers still playing that inspire any confidence when they trot out there....at least 4 easy kicks missed this weekend that I can think of off the top of my head...

    I'd be interested in seeing what the league-wide FG % was this season in comparison to other seasons. I believe it's been statistically proven that PK are more accurate now than at any point in league history, though at 5 for 9 this weekend, the kickers had a rough job, though one of those was a 54-yarder.

    NFL average was 81.3% this year. compared to 84.5% in 2008, 82.8% in 2007....same % as 2006.

    Maybe they are just missing the more important kicks this year, so it's more obvious when they miss.
