Chris Johnson and 2000 yards. Was Qwest Field classless or not?

I just got back from Qwest field and Johnson got 2006 yards. I think that is an incredible number. I am a Seahawks fan living near Seattle; but first and foremost I am a fan of the game and the NFL. At Qwest field they did not show his stats once during the game. Did not announce his 2000 yards--nothing. I thought this was just plain wrong. I had to text my son at his house to find out what his stats were. I understand that Seattle is to support their own team; but out of respect for the history of the game they should acknowledge a great feat. I just wanted to share this. Just to add; it was a hard fought game.

When I was sure he broke it, I was also surprised nothing was made of it. I texted a buddy to see where he was at and yep, 2002 yards.
Winning or losing the game aside, we are all fans of football and I thought it would have been cool to stop the game for a moment to recognize that. As a lifelong seahawk fan I dont think we were classless, dont know why they didnt recognize though.
I personally would have loved to see him get the 238 yards he needed, I love seeing records broken. Guys a bit of a thug, but still a cool event to be at.
I sobbed all the way home. Shocking!

<< <i>What I meant- was the organization not being respectful? I did not mean the fans; myself being one of them. They showed Justin Forsett had 10 rushes for 79 yards which is all good. They did not show his stats once during the game. Not once. Whoever is in charge of such things with announcements and such should be ashamed. >>
considering that every fan there was witnessing history being made, you are absolutely right.
<< <i>I don't see how its classless...he's an OPPOSING player. Let him get his accolades at home, on the field, he's the enemy. Why in the world would an opposing team highlight a visiting player's accomplishments, especially when it came at their expense? >>
I wouldn't expect them to stop the game and have a ceremony, but an acknowledgement should have happened. It's not like the teams are rivals, and it's not like the game was meaningful for any other reason EXCEPT for the 2K.

But getting 2,000 yards did not come at their expense. It came at the expense of all of the teams the Titans played during the season. I would not expect the Seahawks to stop the game and bring a podium out on the field for him to give a speech or anything. However, it is not too much to ask to post his stats during the game with or without a "congratulations" attached. It is a simple gesture that I am sure the Seahawks would want given to one of their players when a milestone was reached.

Why is he a thug? Because he has dreadlocks? As far as I can tell, his personal life is clean, no history of trouble. Ray Lewis is a thug. Plaxico Burress is a thug. Chris Johnson is a phenomenal running back, whose 2000 yards should have been recognized by the Seahawks. No need to stop the game, but an announcement that he eclipsed 2,000 yards would have been sufficient. They dropped the ball big time there.
The amazing thing about him is how quickly he gets up to full speed. One very flashy halfback.

<< <i>What's the big deal? They could have announced it, but did not. That does not change his accomplishment, nor does it detract from it.

But what the fans that were there? Does the team owe them at least a "heads up" that something significant has occurred?

Anyone?
I was there, but frankly I was watching the play on the field. I knew he was close, since they do show the rushing and passing totals for each team on the scoreboard. Having watched the game, I knew he had 95% of the rushing yards shown. It ain't rocket science.

I would have known and kept track too, but isn't the stadium presentation largely aimed at the less-aware fan? After all, it ain't rocket science to keep up with down and distance either, is it?
As for your questions, the OP said the stadium didn't show it. I'm basing my opinions off his account.
Frankly, I don't really care all that much. IMO, it just shows why that org can't get things together for any length of time.

Maybe you were thinking of your hometown?

Glad Seattle fans are SOOOOO much different than those in every other stadium in the world. Most places have to tailor the stadium presentation to the casual fan.
...and How TF would you have a clue where my HOMETOWN is exactly?? At best, you know where I live NOW. But nice assumption.

You said it perfectly "The organization is in a coma just like the team." I'm actually quite worried as a fan. They were completely blown out more than a few times. Not 1 improvement in one area from game 1 to game 16. Because of that I say the coach is a bad fit and they need to get the new GM and hire a new coach. Mora was a bad secondary coach and a bad head coach. People will say- "But he guided Atlanta deep in the playoffs." Michael Vick guided them in the playoffs. When Vick's numbers went south, so did the team badly. He left the Falcons a bad team.
