  • "personally don’t mind the off-topic posts. In fact, I rather enjoy the wit and humor of many members here. I find it quite easy to ignore and skip posts that I am not interested in." BINGO!! There you have it. I thought the bug posts were stupid so i skipped them. Whats the big deal? There is always going to be some off topic stuff if people are comfortable here and have freedom. Thats human nature.Yeah if these off topic posts dominated the boards then there is a problem. that is not the case here. My suggestion is leave well enough alone or these boards will pretty much whither away.

I'm good with the rules and hope we don't loose any more long term members over it.

Probably the greatest threat to the posting public here since the great purge of December 2006. Ya gotta wonder what the hosts are thinking. Is being the center of the coin universe worth it? Or, would they rather only rub elbows with the elite numismatists and loyal customers?

Methinks the decision makers are weighing their options. I think if this forum is no longer the center of the coin universe, and they restrict 60% plus of those of us who poste here, then this site will fade into oblivion as everyone else navigates to fresher waters.

Right now CU is the proverbial active center of numismatic online discussion boards. But, that designation comes with a lot of extra baggage. Question is whether or not our hosts have to stomach for the extra baggage that comes with this prestigious recognition!

Kind of reminds me of Ebay's recent policy decisions.

    Good or bad?

I think we know the answer to that one.

Braddick, this was discussed a few years ago with some other members here, but no conclusive evidence as to the attribution was ever found. If you can help me attribute the quote conclusively, I'd be happy to remove the - Anonymous attribution in my quote and credit honest Abe!

    Oh, my gosh!
I've always thought that to be the case since grade school and took for granted what I learned was correct but some time spent researching this proves you are correct. It has been attributed to at least four distinguished individuals, none with certainty!

    I stand corrected.
  • Definitely a bit overdone I think.
    Of course, some will applaud.
Ultimately, PCGS can chose to do whatever they want with the forum.
Certainly will not affect my day to day participation.
However, it does leave a bad taste in my mouth.
Especially since I am a PCGS member.
Yet, I keep coming back ... day after day.

    Please take note...

I just looked at Mr. Willis' post, and he edited it last night. He "toned down" the language in each rule.

I don't see the point posting these rules if they won't inforce them. Half of all threads will eventually break one of the rules, it's being done right now image. If followed, within a month the forum would have no members. So here's to alienating current, and more importantly, future clientele. image

Could that have been done to "legitimize" a banning he did that did not violate any of his previous rules??

It actually happened around December 15th, 2006. And I agree, it was quite entertaining. >>
