Need grading advice

Spend too much buying psa 10's via ebay.

Looking to get submit raw cards to complete sets. For those of you who have good luck with submissions, what do you recommend buying to get the best looking cards? Wax Boxes? Vending? Rack packs? Cello? Factory Sealed sets? Thanks in advance!

Seems to me you may well end up with a ton of 8s and 9s going the raw way...there is no guarantee of getting 10s from any sealed item. If you MUST have 10s, IMO the only way is via eBay, private sale, etc, etc. Sending in raw is a craps shoot, besides the grading and shipping both ways costs, not to mention the time involved, may turn into more of a hassle than you imagine.

If you haven't already, you may want to consider getting a VCP account and set up your wants for 10s. You will receive an email notifying you that the item is up on eBay or another auction venue such as Goodwin, etc.

The difference IMO between a 9 and a 10 is almost microscopic...are you buying the card or the slab?
  • Slab. I bought a factory sealed box of 1982 topps. Haven't opened. Thinking of purchasing rack packs, wax boxes.

I agree with 1955Topps, the only way to get guaranteed PSA 10's is to buy them, sending in raw will just be a crap shoot. If you are really having fun opening packs then go for it. As long as the fun of opening the packs outways the dissapointment of not getting 10's, then you have nothing to loose. Sometimes you can't put a price on pure enjoyment.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do...Donato

Since I do racing, most of the sets I work on are 20 years old or less. Since there is not a lot of racing inventory out there, I open boxes, packs and factory sets and submit my own raw cards. I love to evaluate and submit raw cards. I have so much fun with this hobby. My advise is to enjoy this hobby, collect what you love, have fun and do what you want.
    Good Luck
