WTF? NBA teammates pulling guns out in the locker room?

I collect Vintage Cards, Commemorative Sets, and way too many vintage and modern player collections in Baseball (180 players), Football (175 players), and Basketball (87 players). Also have a Dallas Cowboy team collection.

the story can't be true, since we know that DC has some of the most strict gun laws in the nation.

Amazing! I wonder how much the gambling debt had to be to make him think "maybe if I pull out my gun, he'll pay". Probably impacts the team chemistry a bit.

Gilbert Arenas is a clown. I can't believe the Wizards got roped into paying that guy a long term deal at like $18m per year, or something crazy like that....clearly the most selfish superstar in the league, will never win anything, assuming he lives long enough to finish that contract, with reckless behavior like he's shown in this incident.

YouTube Arenas vs. Stephenson, and all you need to know about him is displayed in that video...I can't believe one of his teammates hasn't already shot him by now.

I agree. I am licensed to carry and a member of the NRA. However, you just don't pull a gun out when you are in an argument. A gun is for self defense, only.

I appreciate the confidence in me. I promise that this is not intended to start an argument - just stating my position is all. If morons (that commit crimes) were punished adequately, there would be enough fear in the justice system that gun control would not be necessary. Guns don't kill people. People do. It has been proven time, and time again that where people are allowed to conceal a weapon, gun crime actually goes down. In places where there is more gun control, law abiding citizens comply, but criminals just didn't seem to get the memo about more gun laws. So, in that instance, the law abiding citizen is penalized.

Again, I promise that the above was just a stating of my position and was in no way intended to be obnoxious or anything like that. Again, thanks for the confidence in me.

Could there be a lifetime ban? The NBA can't have this stuff in locker rooms. The image of the NBA is not pristine as it is. The league can go on without these 2 involved.
  • i personally like a good open discusion, as for real fun control perhaps like a drivers liscence one needs to pass a safetly test..maybe with guns we need the same kind of tests...not just anyone can drive they have to pass the test, if they do not pass they cannot drive. this is just my opinion, i know several hunters that are very gun safety oriented, and i know goofballs that have guns and in no way should.

Exactly. In the state of Kentucky, you are required to take a 6 hour class room course where you learn about all of the state laws, proper gun safety, etc. Then, there is target training. I just took the course a couple of months ago.

I like a good, open discussion too.

Edited to say that the above training was for concealed carry permit and not for gun ownership.

A CNN sports analyst - formerly with ESPN - said today that the "problem is cultural," and
that black athletes think they "need to carry guns." The blowback on that may never come,
since the analyst is a black guy.

Driving is a privilege granted by the states and is rightfully licensed by the states.

Carrying concealed firearms is deemed a privilege and is rightfully permitted/licensed by
    the states.

Mere firearm ownership is a right and should require no license; and, "registration" only
    at the point of sale.

NO type of "gun control" would prevent the subject miscreant sports stars from possessing guns.

    This is nothing new.

In the mid 1970's around the time of the NBA-ABA merger a brotha from the hood by the name of Marvin "Bad News" Barnes played for the St. Louis Spirits of the ABA. He was one crazy guy. He carried guns. He got mad at a teammate during practice. He was so mad he left practice only to return later carrying a weapon (tire iron if I recall) and set out after the teammate he was mad at to beat him to a pulp.

I guess his teammate "disrespected" him. That just can not be allowed to happen, unless you want to lose your "street cred". He was arrested and charged with assault.

Fast forward to the late 1990's and remember NBA All Star Latrell Sprewell. He got mad during practice with his coach, PJ Carlissimo. He left practice and then returned to attack his coach, choking him and threatening to kill him. Sprewell was suspended by the Warriors and eventually traded.

Thugs from the hood who can play ball.

Arenas is just the latest in a long line of these guys.

    ////////////////////////////

    Of course it is.

The difference in the reaction is due, in part, to expectations.

People had high expectations of Tiger.

People expect NBA thugs to behave like SCUM, and folks don't
really care when they do so.
