Wayne Herndon has been slowly, relentlessly, ponderously rolling up on the rear of the leaders, like swarm of high grade locusts, ready to devour us all!

He has been accumulating a spectaculate set, in the loftiest grades!

Wayne's a good guy to deal with, BTW, if you're buying Lincolns.

    Big downside: He's an Aggie.

  • Well, maybe, but I'm closing in! I'm almost in the top 50% of the Lincoln set! image

Wayne DOES have quite a few nice coins. I'd like to buy a few off him that he has listed on his website, but the prices seem a bit steep. Maybe I'll have to get in contact with him and see what we can do.

dpoole, does he have you shaking in your boots yet? Or do you have a hat trick you're going to pull on us to make sure you stay above him? image

I sent him an email a couple of months ago complementing him on his set and thanking him for letting everyone view it. He was really nice and thanked me. He told me that he didn't care if it took years, but he was only getting finest knowns or one off finest (or close to this). I even saw that he removed a coin from his set that didn't fit into this plan (and it was NOT replace, he just removed it).

    Thanks Wayne, and great job.

  • He's put the fear of God into me. I've learned to pick up the upgrade as soon as the great quality coins become available. Quality coppers are a pain in the A$$ to find it does take years to build a great set. I just hope I can stay in the ball park with some of these folks.

I've bought a few coins from Wayne, including a 1951 66RD, 1952 66RD, 1934 67RD and a few others that I forget. He's a really nice guy. And I didnt have to pay the prices he listed on his home page. I paided a little below market price on a few, and a little above on a few others. He's a really nice guy to deal with. Yes, some day he'll get his name on the holder. If he ever sells out, I hope I'm able to purchase some. I suspect that when his set is sold, it will be many years from now in an estate sell.

I'm currently at number 24 on the lincoln set. I have no aspirations to make it into the top five. I've been fortunate to catch a few scraps from Wayne's table image.

  • I expect Wayne to be a king in the Lincoln Memorial set some day too. I've talked with him a dozen times, but never met him, even though he lives less than 50 miles away.
