What die tools made various gouges?

Disclaimer: I know nothing about the die making process. I would like to know more.
Question: Where is there a resource that has good info on what tools diemakers used? I am curious as to what tools or methods made certain gouges. What peaks my curiosity is a couple morgans, mainly the tailbar and the hangnail.
The hangnail is grooved, the tailbar looks flat but then has similar grooves in the center. I always wonder if there is a relation toolwise between the gouges.

I wrote an article on VAM 4 - Tailbar and your question, if someone could offer an opinion, would be awesome! It could help us understand how such a huge die gouge could have been made and possibly how it was either not noticed or simply ignored and allowed to strike coins.
Lets see what everyone has to say -
don't believe any gouge I've ever seen has teeth (at least not the metal gouges that my
father had). I remember admiring them some twenty years ago. They were all shapes
and widths but none had teeth.
I've got a woodshop here in our old folks community and they do metal as well. Perhaps
I can find out when then meet and see what these old guys say.
Let you know Todd.

Nope those are all mine. I wish I spent more time with the high grade tailbar but it was part of a 400 coin job I was doing and didnt do any super special close-ups.
