Something went right for Christmas...

This past week started tough. My Christmas vacation was due to start on Tuesday but circumstances forced me to be away from my family for the first two days of said vacation. My wife knew I was stressed out and tried to make the best of a rough situation. Earlier in the month I told her how I sent Christmas cards to the likes of Peyton Manning, Cal Ripken, Jr., and John Wooden. She joked that maybe I would get a card from one of them. It is day 2 of my vacation and I am sitting in my office when she comes by with a look of shock on her face. She says "I am so sorry" and hands me one of those "Oops" bags from the USPS. When I held up the bag all I could see was a ripped up envelope. The only thing visible on it was my last name, the word "Drive" in my street address and the zip code. I feared the worst and pulled my mail out of the bag. To my amazement the Christmas card was in one piece. It was from IronManFan sending holiday greetings. Included was a baseball card he was gracious enough to get signed for me by Cal that I had sent to him recently. Not to put too much emphasis on hobbies or anything but when this card fell out of the card in the ripped up envelope I felt sick:

Fortunately the greeting card and rookie card were ok. The inserted cardboard did its job! Thanks again IMF for your generosity and friendship.

I was relieved all worked out well....There must have been someone looking down "from above."
The "gift" was in appreciation for all the hard work/passion you put into your site and also in recognition for all the help you have given the board members here.
Happy Holidays!!

Great gesture on your part. Glad that cardboard did its job!

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.

Thanks again Bill. Your comments and generosity mean a great deal. The RITM site would not have evolved without your help from the very beginning.
For those of you who do not know, Bill was the person who informed me that my 1980 WBTV was a counterfeit which led to the development of the site. I e-mailed him looking for information after purchasing my 1980 Charlotte Police card of Cal. We've been corresponding ever since. It is very rare to find people with great collections that are willing to share their experiences with others.

<< <i>Thanks for the feedback folks. My wife is not a collector but she was pretty rattled when she saw what was in the envelope. I am going to guess that the shred with my first name and house number was recovered when it happened. Then again it is a small town and possible to figure out how to find me. Fortunate either wat.
